Hi, I though it was time I posted a pic of my type IV toy on the forum... It is a 2.0l type IV with a stock four spd gearbox oh and some slightly oversized wheels.:vader
wheres the pic
Good point I will try again
Sorry guys, for some reason I can upload the pics at the moment will keep trying... if you have any suggestions please reply.
tell you what email me the pic and ill put it up for you
here the pic now
it looks very sweet mate whats the colour
It is VW ruby red... It is matched to an orginal paint sample
thats the colour i want for my sbug. its got the same mods. how did you upgrade the brake
The brakes haven't been upgraded as such yet,
The front disks are stock 1500 disks that have been cross drilled, and the wheel stud pattern has been changed to 4X114 (nissan stud pattern) The
changing of the stud pattern my sound like a strange thing to do but in actual fact it is a master stroke as I can now walk into any mag wheel shop
and pick up wheels for it. The wheels that are on it are 18" DTM garcia's in chrome. oh and the back brakes are still drums.
very nice mags mate if you are going to upgrade the brakes, is it going to be the whole hog or just a boaster. i have just the boaster on mine and it stops nicely.
Looks like a nice ride.
What's the TIV like?
For those interested here are the specs
1500 beetle with type IV 2.0L engine
40mm weber carbs
18" X 7.5" DTM Garcia Chrome wheels
215 X 35 X 18 falken ziex rubber
41/2" narrowed and adjustable front beam
Momo interior- Seats, wheel, shifter
Stereo Panasonic MP3 head unit with 8 disk stacker, Alpine 75W X 4 amp, Infinity 6"X9" rear speakers and infinity componets
72 fin Mesa oil cooler
The type IV is the s&#t,
It has so much torgue that I can light up the 215 tyres, smoke boy racers from the lights and pull 100 MPH up hill, It would go over 100MPH but I run
out of gears.
If you are in any doubt about putting a type IV in your VW do it will be the best thing you have ever done to it.
Barls..
regards the booster I was not aware that there was a product out there are you able to give some more detail... It is always handy to be able to stop.
its a vh or vx 44. its a multi use item for cars of this vintage. simple mount i just bolted it on the left side level with the master and hooked it up. it reduced my stopping distance by a good meter or so. the t4 2L is the best. i just love passing cars up hills but unforunately its not on the road at the moment. this is it.http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=25214
heres some more
Hey, that's me in the passenger seat in the first pic!
yeah it is... feel famous.
:blah:blah:blah:blah:blah:blah:blah
glad to hear that you are happy with the engine
sounds similar to what i am working up at the moment
any more details on yours?
heads
ignition
cam
exhaust
hp/torque?
just curious, cos it sounds like a beast
i have a stock t4 2L with the stock carbs, and thats enough.
i think me and these pics need some "personal time" together......hahah
it is motherfu#@in sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttt!!!!
Hi Kim,
I will try to answer your question but I didn't build the engine... I may have to get some more info from my mechanic
heads "I think they are stock twin port heads that have been boarded out to have 40mm in-take ports"
ignition "Electronic, with 009 dissy"
cam "No idea- fairly mild I think because it is running hydraulic lifters"
exhaust "I am just having a custom exhaust built with tunned headers - the one that is on there in these picks sat a little low and kept draging when
comming out of driveways etc."
hp/torque? "I have not had it on a dyno- but the prevoius onwers did it was around 120 hp- not sure of the torque but you do feel it."
just curious, cos it sounds like a beast " It is I will be interested to see how the new exhaust goes- you can always have more hp !!!"
awesome car mate :o

Hey good to see a T4 in a beetle in NZ as you do not see that many here! Looks real nice, well done!
who did the work?
[Edited on 29-7-2004 by s1fter]
Hello s1fter,
There does seem to be a growing number of Type IV beetles, Did you make it to the nationals?. there would have been about half a dozen of them
there.
The work has been done by the Veedub Shoppe (Paul Smith), the previous owners, and I have done a few bits and pieces myself.
does any one know where I can get rear pop out windows?.
Popouts for your model come up regularly on thesamba.com in the classified sections as well as ebaymotors.com - pretty cheap compared to the early
ones.
There are sets of the late model beetle ones floating around in oz too - so maybe post a wanted ad in the parts for sale/wanted section (if you
haven't done so already).
Type 4s are the sh$t in my mind i have one in my bus only mild but flyes anyway with heaps of easy grunt no changing back gears for hills i also have
just built one for my baja cant wait to go for a hoon and be able to hoon unlike those guttless 1600s never agian will i stuff with those thingscool:
