ColumBUS - September 14th, 2004 at 07:43 AM

and finally, the plates. love the plates.

ColumBUS - September 14th, 2004 at 04:03 PM

...wow, what a great stock ride you got there! what are you're plans for this baby?

settle down crowd! future plans include a respray (monza red top, satin black bottom) rear body kit, whale tail spoiler, engine go zoom zoom kit, and an interior overhaul. a very stylish, classic, racy look in the end.
any more questions feel free

Daniel

*did* - September 14th, 2004 at 04:15 PM

i put a whale tail on one of my bugs a while ago, much prefer the stock look.
your car looks good, if you get a whale tail then keep the original parts incase you change your mind

Bizarre - September 14th, 2004 at 04:20 PM

Kool ride

love supers

Couple of us here love them Supers - you can REALLY get them to handle. You dont need alll that much punch to get them going.

A good set od ftruts and brakes

beerdoc - September 14th, 2004 at 05:04 PM

Ok

I am confused I thought your beetle would be an L bug but did they bring out a model with curved windsceen and no dash maybe

Someone please enlighten me

I was under the impression that supers finished round 72 -73 with a flat windsceen and went L with curved windscreen and large dash

Then went flat screen in 76 and that was it (indicators in bumper as well or though a few L s got those as well.

Either way a sweet ride mate and for what its worth put your money to wheels and carbies and forget whale tail

?

pod - September 14th, 2004 at 10:23 PM

should look good Daniel cool:
have you fixed the starter motor yet;)

Bizarre - September 15th, 2004 at 12:31 PM

beerdoc

Super was term applied to strut beetles

71-72 were S bug or 1302
flat screen
steel dash
3 bolt struts
"normal" steering

73 were L bug or 1303 early
curved screen
padded dash
3 bolt struts
"normal" steering

74 were L bug or 1303
curved screen
padded dash
2 bolt struts
"normal" steering

75 were L bug or 1303 late
curved screen
padded dash
2 bolt struts
rack and pinion steering
indicators in front bumper

All were supers

76 were standard beetles
flat screen
padded dash - but flat
torsion bar
indicators in front bumper

Daniels car would be an early 1303

Nice base for a German Looker :sandrine

ColumBUS - September 15th, 2004 at 12:49 PM

thanks for the advice on the whale tail. ill make sure i keep the original parts. no i havent fixed the starter motor yet, its either a trip to volkshaven for a 2nd hand starter motor or a trip to campsie for a brand new solinoid.

solinoid = $70
starter motor = $90

or i could just go to Boris Swap meet and hope for the best!
any ideas?

Daniel

Bizarre - September 15th, 2004 at 12:55 PM

$90 is cheap

I think i paid $160 to get mine rebuilt - but that had warranty.

Dont think i would trust a $40 starter :duh

ColumBUS - September 15th, 2004 at 01:38 PM

im thinkin the starter motor is the way to go, campsie is just so far away and i have no time. i have this big thing on soon... hold on, wait its coming to me... oh yeah thats right the hsc.

but im worried about the lack of warranty on the second hand gear. if i chuck in some faulty gear itd be out of the frying pan and into the fire... :repuke

ive asked for anything second hand in the wanted and for sale area but no one has replied. guess ill have to try my luck at swap meet on the weekend.

beerdoc - September 15th, 2004 at 02:08 PM

pyro

yeah im in camden south but i spend a lot of time in campbelltown (volkshaven is my best friend) i see greedy almost every morning as his house is on my way to school. its great to get into a community like this. its almost like my father's 4wd club, without dirty singlets, feral lingo, inbreeding and talk of nascar.

just kidding, 4wding is awesome, i was actually gonna buy a zook before i found kikko.

Daniel.

pod - September 15th, 2004 at 09:14 PM

ColumBUS - September 16th, 2004 at 06:59 PM

Kikko isnt running to well these days :cry so its off to volkshaven tomorrow morning for a tune up. last place that serviced her was a bit of a bomb, so hgopefully this'll fix her up, may put in second hand starter motor while im there.

more plans for Kikko include white walling the tyres, sound system (almost completed) new shocks, shag carpet roof, big red fluffy dice, new pedals, and a very fluffy red steering wheel cover. such a pimpin mobile! still thinking about dropping her... how have people with dropped bugs find them?

Daniel

P.S. pyro wave if u see me in the local area

ColumBUS - September 17th, 2004 at 03:57 PM

So much for straight!

I took Kikko in for a tune up today, only to get the news that my engine is in serious need of replacement altogether! apparently the thing is a piece of S#!%

im very sad, does anyone have a spare seat for the trip to the swap meet?

Daniel

KOM123 - September 17th, 2004 at 09:29 PM

Hey Daniel,

Spotted your Beetle on my way to Steve's the other day but only caught site of you just as I passed so don't know if you saw the wave!! :)

ColumBUS - September 20th, 2004 at 09:54 AM

Good news kiddies!

Kikko is receiving a new engine. its only a 1300 but with the money im saving i can give it a bit more kick with exhaust/extractor kit and a bigger carbie. also, very soon ill be in need of mags, nice, original mags! white walls are going on and the interior has been done.

after this, the lowering shall begin and the paint shall flow!

Daniel
