Thanks Mitchell,
Hows yours going,
Got the bumpers back yet?

Mine might not be a 100 point resto but its all my own work.
I keep telling everyone, its going to be a driver and not a show queen.

Engine gets fitted this week so hopefully I will be driving my bus next weekend, and then I wont stop driving it.

And it is not for sale, EVER.

Cheers
Dave

I must say this bus of yours is one of my faves I've seen anywhere!.
Choice of year model,colour scheme,ride height,wheels.......
As that turkey on Australian idol says......."Touchdown my freind"your bus is super friggin duper....
Classy as.
Send the boys from Volksworld magazine, they should be knocking on your door soon.

very tight.

how much did the original purchase set u back. that looked like some nasty condition... you brought it back to life. love it.

Daniel - Can't afford a splitty

Che Castro - October 8th, 2004 at 08:51 AM

wow that is schweet

57kombi - October 8th, 2004 at 09:21 AM

Kroozin Kikko.
I originally paid $1500 for the bus.
It had had an engine fire early in life and didnt need much rust repair, only both inner and outer sills, doglegs, outriggers and 2 areas about 2 inches square above the outriggers also 2 center chassis sections, the front skin has been replaced with a NOS panel.
This is MINOR repairs compared to most splits, thats why anyone who says the unrestord bus they have for sale might just need sills is kidding themselves.

Never pay more than $2000 for an unrestored bus, as it has cost me a hell of a lot to get it to this state( I wont say how much as my missus sometimes looks over my shoulder as I type)
Also someone had done the Aussie conversion on the rear guards, chopped them out , so new ones had to be welded in.
It had the ususal dents consistent with a 47 year old commercial vehicle.
the rust was cut out underneath and it was shot blasted in the rear(where the engine fire had caused a lot of surface corrosion) and then a good spray of POR15 to stop rust.
I have done the majority of the work myself, PMGBUS did the welding. I did the rest incuding paint, the primer was 2 pak epoxy and the top coats are Glasurit 2 pak
It has taken 3 and a half years and I drove it for the first time yesterday.
I will never sell it.

Cheers
and thanks for the positive comments
