the new shell...
Cam - October 11th, 2004 at 07:46 PM

Hi everyone,

Thought you might like to see the shell I picked up to replace the rotted out one I had.

It's a '65 and has been painted more times than I could believe. But still... It's straight as a dye and has one tiny rust spot at the base of where the drivers side guard bolts on.

I decided that a bare metal respray is the only way to go so took to a couple of panels with the paint stripper this evening.

Looks good. Quick question though. Does the cling wrap over the paint stripper really help? If so i will give it a go next time. Heard it keeps the fumes in etc and fastens the process.

I've found it actually stops the paint stripper from evaporating and helps the paint come off in larger strips as opposed to small flakes. Which is a problem particularly when doing the stripping outdoors in 30 degree heat.
