started work on the barny after getting all motivated at the melbourne swapmeet. i have a few panel to make and weld in. it didnt look to bad untill i
started poking around!
its an october 53 rhd barndoor ute , 58 000 genuine miles one owner .had a tonne of sand on the tray when the engine blew and then sat in a paddock
for 30years.
what a rusty old piece of shit.
put it back in the paddock where you got it from.
LOL
Nice ride mate.. That will be a sweet thing soon. Got a time goal?
man your committed,
keep up the good work
not committed yet but my wife thinks i should be!
as far as time frame, somewhere between now and november next year!
Thats what I like to see
BOOTS and ALL
Go for it Andrew
If you need a contact for panels let me know LOL
managed to get front crossmember, rear crossmember and two top rails with new shift rod guides in. front outriggers and rear "c pillars are done, next step is rear outriggers, then inner front arch area and sills. every time i go to weld something i have to remove more rust to find somewhere to start from.
handy thing those spot welders!
vwtyp2... no offence but what a rude and offencive thing to say... ive never seen anything like that wirten on this forum and as they allways say, if
you havnt got something nice to say, dont say anything at all.
Good luck mate, the more that can be kept alive, the better
Corey

2 years ago i would have though why bother thats a basket case ,now mmmmmmmmmm barnyyyyyy door.
rust isnt a problem anymore just the time it takes to fix .
keep the pics coming
yes we kick around together, and yes dan will probably spend a few nights with me working on the bus. if not mine then me on his!
he he.
that's me standing behind the rusty piece of crap in the second pic.
and yes, I'll be lending as much assistance, and limited experience when and where I can, to see it back on the road again.
:beer
it had better look like this when your finished.I got this pic off barndoor.dk,whats your chassis number?you should stick it on here as there are only
a few aussie barnys registered,
or is there an Ausrtralian barndoor register?
Sorry for my ignorance.. But wht are they called "barn door"?
cause they are all found behind one!
check out barndoor.dk
any bus pre march 55 is a barndoor, it's in reference to the large engine lid at the back (not the cargo doors) Damn are they sexy
yep, picture it like that, but slammed, on sprintstars, and a monster type 4 engine.

"yep, picture it like that, but slammed, on sprintstars, and a monster type 4 engine"
Not a barndoor please!!! Go buy a fat chick (someone point one out for him please)
I can't think of a better candidate for sprints and a monster type 4.
neither can i vwtyp2, unless you find a really original complete one, otherwise i would rat the hell out of it.
If people want to drop there vehicles to the ground, and un OG them.......
