Elmo the fat chick
ruckus - October 20th, 2004 at 07:16 PM

Well here she is.
She's just had her engine rebuilt - nothing fancy yet, all stock.
Body-wise she's ok. Stupid council in Geelong dropped a cherry picker on the roof a while ago (we think) and there are still a few dimples - don't know if they'll show up or not. Some rust in the usual places (bottom of doors etc) but won't really know till we get her stripped. She'd had a really bad paint job before we bought her a while ago.
Pan's stuffed as you'll see in later pics. The rear window was leaking for a while and stuffed the footwell behind the passenger and the rear parcel shelf.

Immediate plans:
Rebuilt balljoint/IRS pan with front disks (if I can bloody find or build one)
Koni's all round.
914 rims :D
And maybe a Ragtop

Any suggestions?

Phew... and I'm spent! Sorry to anyone with dial-up.
The front bumber is all rusted up so we've gotta get a new one and some new mirrors.
Apart from that we want to fit some guages around the speedo (prob. tacho and 2-3 small ones) and maybe some sportier seats.

Hi Rob

Sweet looking ride (dont worry a pan will turn up )

Got to have the anti estabishment sticker on a vw for sure

I am getting a headliner done at Car Trims pty ltd 1205 Toorak Rd Camberwell 98895183

Brent seems a really good dude and has done a shit load of volksy

There was a bay camper in there getting everything done and I was impressed with his work

He has to get back to me with total price of headliner and seats ( possibble leather in front ) but the headliner is $550 which sounds dear at first but not if have a look at the job in total

I reckon thats a days labour and materials ?

Catch ya soon

PS chewy you still got my jack cause you havnt told me what colour coopers mate

ruckus - October 22nd, 2004 at 02:57 PM

Doc how much is leather going to sting you for the seats?

Now that sounds tempting!

ruckus - October 22nd, 2004 at 03:02 PM

Anyone know how hard/expensive it would be to fix rust problems behind the back seat down towards the firewall?

Just waiting for the boys at Volkspower to get back to me. They might have just what I'm after. If not then a date with low55 shall be had and a merry chopping and welding session will go down.

ruckus - November 28th, 2004 at 08:15 PM

I had the best day today! DOVW was so awesome and inspiring that I couldn't wait to get all the bargains I bought on. New bumper, mirrors, window winders and last but certainly not least THE 914S ARE ON!

Bought a disk assembly for the front too so she's going to get the conversion and her dropped spindles done ASAP.
Many thanks to MR930 and Sax for the wheel related stuff this weekend.

Can't believe the only thing that went wrong was a big gash to my hand while changing the wheels!

beerdoc - November 29th, 2004 at 03:43 PM

sweeeeeeeeeet

Does that mean I am of the hook to get your wheels down
cause it was going to be to much hassle anyway.

Ride is looking good mate

ruckus - November 29th, 2004 at 05:03 PM

Yeah thanks for the offer though Doc.
She's booked in to get the spindles and disk front and subsequent lower on friday. Cause the tyres are pretty big I think she'll sit pretty well with the drop the spindles'll give. Here's hoping :D

Suzii - November 30th, 2004 at 10:52 AM

Be thankful Marty locked the Combo and hid the keys otherwise my 70 beetle would be wearing the wheels........lol

ruckus - November 30th, 2004 at 05:01 PM

hehehe. he mentioned you'd been staring at them mumbling: "...must have the precious..."
