Pimp my Cab
squizy - October 26th, 2004 at 01:50 PM

Ok ok...not quite Pimp my Cab....but I'm thinking of wheels for my car.

So far I've thought the German Look [something Porsche], Empi 8's, some BRM's, or some chrome rims with nipple caps. The car is slightly lower inthe front now [and might possibly go lower], but I'm not sure on wheels yet. Any ideas? Budget is not a major concern - within reason of course.

Squiz.....

Polished Empi 8's would be the easier choice.

Squizy, you could always slam it and get 2.0l fuchs, no need to redrill brakes....

57kombi - October 29th, 2004 at 04:59 PM

Polished Randars, or radars, available from ClassicVW(pacific)

Not seen a set on a car over here yet.

Cheers

Hi squizy...

There are plenty of sweet wheels out there... don't be afraid to do something that nobody else has done. It can be a lot of fun having a look at how different styles change the mood of the car. When I was looking at wheels I went to a couple of wheel shops and rolled a few wheels out along side the beetle and stood back and pictured then on there. The next thing is how much modification you are prepared to do to have some bling bling on your car..

I had to do a 4" narrowed beam with 25mm spacers to give me the clearance to fit the 7.5" deep wheels.

I was lucky that the prevoius owners redrilled the disks to fit Nissan wheels so I had a huge selection. If you want to run after market wheels you will need to concider doing this or running addaptors, addaptors will however widen your track so the narrowed beam would need to go in to compensate.

You will proably also find that Porchse wheels... even replicas are quite expensive. I priced some at $3500.00 nz with out rubber.... and they where 17". My DTM'S where $3500.00 nz with rubber and they are 18" and chrome.

Have fun choosing.
