I know where you can get some great Safari's for it........

57kombi - November 29th, 2004 at 09:43 AM

Whats going on here, people posting pics of 50's buses and mine not being one of them,
You know Roy.
I have to have the most pics of my bus on this site.

Yet another excuse to post a pic. only joking

Also I think it needs some deluxe trim.
I know where you can get some cheap.

Cheers
Dave

Zimblewinder - November 29th, 2004 at 11:04 PM

Cant agree there. Keep it just like it is! No safaris, no delux trim, standard height. PEOPLE look past calling for the fads and see the timelessness-ness of a great original restoration. Thats exactly how it is meant to be! Sweet restoration congratulations. I hope my 58 scratches up as well. Cheers

So this lowering business is a fad is it, I was under the impression people had been lowering Vee Dubs since the early 70`s.
Slam the fuck outa it.

I just said the above cos Im tired of all you guys calling for anything with four wheels to be slammed to be "cool". It would be so much better if for once you could say... "that's a great restoration", "dont OG height busses look cool", "wish my bus looked as good" etc etc. Im not saying slammed busses aren't cool. Just show some respect for a fantastic resto instead.

By the way... unmolested busses are a rarity. No safaris, no lowering, og wheels are way cool and they express more individuality than the countless lowered, empi 5'd, safari'd busses.

As for lowering not being a fad... Busses have been around a long time before the 70's kids.

t2 - December 3rd, 2004 at 08:47 PM

i havent seen many slammed buses running empi 5 rims and safaris around in aus
i guess people like what they like and all the different options that people can or cant do is what makes the whole vw scence that much better
i like accesories lots of them

The point I was making about your comments on the "Lowering Fad" is that VW`s have been being "customised" including being lowered since the 70`s, maybe even earlier.
I think 30 years is a long time for a "Fad".
I wasn`t born until `76 (cool year hey, someone had a great idea of painting that number in bright blue on an orange ping pong ball an sticking it on thier antenna!), I didn`t lower my first VeeDub until 1994 just after I passed my driving test.
I appreciate all Types and styles of VW`s too, I am not biased towards lowering, I just think it gives a car much more attitude and couldntgiveafukness.
Cheers
Graham.

So.
Its a low one your after is it.

Cheers
Dave

57kombi - December 3rd, 2004 at 11:01 PM

I think I will need to get some more pics, I am using old ones without the deluxe trim.
Great trim , made from geletine, looks like polished ally but melts at temps above 25 degrees, thats why its good for England.
Cheers
Dave
