13b jport should be good for 200hp needs a bit of a clean up
this is for a bug? :O
are you putting it in a project of yours or something???
Ciao
Kat
yep starting to do pics on non engine conversion page
Is the J port the loud arse one ? Or is that the Bridge Port? Why not just go a 13B Turbo?:thumb:thumb
j ports the biggest porting you can do before going to a periferal port or pp . Yep there loud but if you use thick wall tubing and decent mufflers the noise can be legalised. he he . To go turbo 13b the bug would have to weigh a little over 1100kg. As it is it was engineered in 93 with a revised weight of 900kg I just get away with putting the 13b back in it ( have spoken with engineer). Should be noisy n scarey. Ohh power for jport will come on about 4500-7000rpm +
oh wow, this should be good
Danielle told me there was someone putting a 13B in a bug, so I had to look.
just to clarify, a normal rotary has what are called side intake ports, which feed air in the sides of the rotor, and use a peripheral exhaust port,
which is a hole basically put directly into the rotor housing, for a very direct air path. the new RX-8 uses side ports on both inlet and exhaust.
however a peripheral intake ported motor is the biggest baddest port you can do, however as it involves cutting a completely new port, some racing
classes outlawed it, so the J-port was developed to stay within rules.
so its the biggest, baddest, grumpiest port you can get with the original port configuration.
with the fuel injection setup, I'd say that should be good for an easy 200HP, depending on the exhaust that gets used. and I think power will come in
at higher RPM than a stock VW boxer would destroy itself at.
oooh yeah power should be up there , yep your spot on with porting.
With exhaust I'm might try to make up expansion chamber setup as i've pretty much cut the whole back of the bug out, so space is not an
issue.
Good to see another rotor appreciator on here.
let me know if you need any parts help! i work for a mazda dealership on the southside of brissie!
No worries ,thanks for that, just a thought if you find any 12a or 10a bits (twin dizzy) on the shelves be great if you could let me know. I have alot of twin dizzy motor parts and am always looking out for more bits.
hmm, 10a stuff is mostly no longer available but we do have heaps on the shelf for 12a's, but nothin is free unfortunately! anything we dont have of the 12a bits can be ordered out of our melbourne warehouse overnight of from other dealers stock if they got it...
