Turbo54's New Ride
Turbo54 - January 27th, 2005 at 09:48 AM

Hi All,
I bought this up on Australia Day for my everyday driver. It's a 65 with late model pan, 1600 twin port and 16" Superlights. It also has its original salt n pepper interior and perf'd roof lining. Cant wait to get it home.
O'h and check out the update on my 54 beetle coming soon!

Looks sweet.

Dasdubber - January 27th, 2005 at 10:12 AM

Mate, I must admit that is one of the best type IIIs I have seen thus far. The combination of colour, wheel choice and ride height just make everything gel perfectly.

I am not a huge type III aficianado (not that I have anything against them - just not my cuppa tea), but this one truly rocks. Great stuff.

57kombi - January 27th, 2005 at 10:17 AM

Got to be the best wagon I have seen here in Adelaide.
Nice buy.

Cheers
Dave

T54,

That is a superb looking square! I've never seen one with S'lites on it and judging by what this looks like there will be a few on the scene with the same wheels soon.

You should be wrapped!-W

pod - January 27th, 2005 at 03:35 PM

Turbo54 - January 28th, 2005 at 07:34 AM

Hi all, I dont know much about the wheels but they are one off's as he had to have them made and narrow the rear end to get them to fit, glad to have them though.

Che Castro - January 28th, 2005 at 11:03 AM

wow i really want a type3 wagon now. very nice

Cam - January 28th, 2005 at 11:22 AM

That sure is a gorgeous type III. I've never been a fan of those wheels but they look great with that colour and ride height.

debiasi4 - January 28th, 2005 at 04:27 PM

wheels are 16x7s with 195s stretched on it has short axles off a early beetle the wheels had 5 or 6mm machined off the mating surface to give a bit of extra room when low
glad to see you got the car heath a great buy

NigeType3 - January 28th, 2005 at 04:42 PM

Thanks for that debiasi4 I would have thought machining that much would weeken the wheels sumwhat.

Turbo54 - January 28th, 2005 at 05:10 PM

Good to see you on here adam, hey any progress on the extra gearbox mount?
I thinking of assembling my 2165 with no crank, rods, cam and pistons to get the manifolds made and then putting it together just incase something happens like a stray bit of metal etc.
What do you think?

Resto64 - January 28th, 2005 at 05:34 PM

great score Heath
where did you get this from
hey you dont want to swap do you
love the early type 3

debiasi4 - January 28th, 2005 at 06:50 PM

these wheels were very thick to start with so there is plenty of strength have done this plenty of times , some times even just 2mm helps
heath:
i have to make a mount for somebody else aswell so i"ll go into work tomorrow and make them
putting a dummy engine in is a good idea im doing the same on the new car
