Hey guys,
After sadly handing the keys of my mint 1968 black sqaureback yesterday, I have bought a 1963 single cab splitty ute on the rebound!
It needs a fair bit of tlc body wise, but it is generally a pretty solid base from which to work and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. I am
enrolling in a night tafe course in welding soon, so once I have learnt the skills I'll start patching the thing up.
Unfortunately I didn't take my camera today when I checked it out and paid the deposit, but will post pics when I pick her up in about a month.
Now I only have top figure out how I'm going to break it to the mrs!
Cheers,
Steve

pics pics
no pics as yet..will post in a few weeks
just get ready to put a canopy on the back for sleeping in
lol...i was actually thinking of creating a pickup/camper anyway, so that could be a very good option!
Anyway, I could always find another mrs, but probably never another single cab splitty!
I hope for your sake she doesnt read this....LOL
N!
Is this your new love Steve...........
Hope you don't mind that i post some pics for you.:thumb
I am guessing that this is her but if its not i'll delete the posts. If it is it will give you something to drool at until you pick her up.Bummer to
see the squareback go but great to see you've joined the splitty club!

Yamez, u speak of your wife so often on this forum I feel as though I know her!:blah:blah
so what shall we expect from this beast? resto? Custom? Super-pimped-low-ridin-weed-cuttin-high-gloss-huge-chrome-bling-bling mobile, or work ute?
Thats the one! Thanks splittychick...really appreciate you posting the pics for me! I'm guessing you or someone you know has checked it out then (or
the circle of splittys in Melbourne is a very tight knit one indeed).
I reckon for the money it's a pretty good project. Thanks again to Mark for selling it to me also.
Umm.. plans for the ute havent gone too far ahead. Will probably slam him (I think it's a he this time), whack some empi 5's on (silver ones but not
too highly polished), safari windows at the front, a bit of welding and a smidgeon of bog and a coat of paint. For the colour I'm thinking maybe
bright yellow of ford blueprint orange lower, and white upper, but am open to suggestions at this stage.
Im also thinking of making a camper style pop-top for the ute area, but havent really considered the practicalities of such a project. I know the tray
is high off the ground but I'm thinking of some fold-down hardwood steps for access, a sink and small cupboard and room for a double matress.
I am also renovating my house at the moment (and plan to do more reno's in the future) so may leave it as a workhorse and build a teardrop style
camper trailer in the future.
So while I have biggish plans for the thing, I want to first strip her down and get the rust issues sorted first, and then paint and mechanicals.
Pickup will be in about a month (after the mrs gets the news) so I might have to crash at your place for a few weeks Pat! (BTW..hows the VDO
CD/radio..installed yet?)
Thanks again splitty for posting the pics. I now can drool at the thought of many hundreds of hours work ahead of me!
Cheers,
Steve
I'm glad its the right one & yes now you can come in here & stare at the pics until you get him home & can stare in the flesh.I bought
some overriders of Mark for my splitty & took some photos of the SC when i was there. Its a great project.
How awesome is his shed ,i couldn't have stayed there for hours just checking out all his goodies.:thumb
Splittychick, are there pics of your ride somewhere around here?
Hey Unclerudi,my girl is a little naked at the moment awaiting her paint job but theres a thread here of her progress so far.........http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=26173#pid221179
stephen, are you doing the course in Dandenong. There is a basic hobby panel repair course starting on the 9 Feb . If so, I am seriously thinking about enrolling. It would be great to have a dub buddy in the course.
Thanks, your splitty is going to look awesome, what great progress you have made. Top work, I can't wait to see the finished product.
Hey Purple..I would definitely be interested in the panel repair course. I'm assuming it covers welding etc. Could you please U2U me the basic
details such as cost and duration of course, what basics it covers etc and I'll let you know. My mate Pat (username Paddo) may also be interested.
Splitty..once again thanks for the pics and yes...Marks shed is amazing. Makes me want to buy a huge block in the sticks and build an even bigger shed
(not that Kilsyth in in the sticks Mark..no offence mate...nice area and nice house actually!)
Steve
It is a short course, not a full on trade course. The description on their web site is fairly brief so I have emailed them for more details. The
link below gives the basics for any who may be interested.

I've been mucking around on the 'busselecta' website and have narrowed it down to 2 different colour schemes.
(1) Bright yellow lower/white upper
and
(2) Dark blue lower/white upper
Wheels either empi 5's as on yellow ute, or raders as on blue ute
what do you guys think?

Mockup of yellow ute
#! Message No Longer Available !#
Now you have another badge too!
Actually...the ute is missing the front badge so it's my first. Sheesh..you must kep your eye on ebay huh?!
Any tips on colours though?
i thnk the blue and white always looks classy on a splitty, never been a fan of yellow
I think two tone is always a good thing.. Saying that I will be going one colour.. :duh
