There's an Oval in there...somewhere **With pics now**
HGFS - February 28th, 2005 at 11:13 PM

Here's the starting point of my 54 Oval. Broken bolts everywhere & more rust each time I look at it!! Body off pan was the first priority - its the first time I've lifted a Beetle shell & it was a bit much for 2 of us with the doors still on.

Anyway the plans are for a Cal Looker, rolling on a balljoint, IRS pan. Will probably be going with wide 5 wheels, either BRM's or Sprintstars on a disc brake front. Narrowed beam, slammed all round & a VW colour from around 53-54. Stroker motor hopefully with IDA's, see how the budget goes...

The car was missing heaps of stuff when I got it so in the future I'll be looking for the usual heart tail lights, semaphores, wiper assembly etc etc. Think I'll worry about the rust repair first, but not until I get some of the moving house related junk out of the way!!!

Heres a couple of pics...

OK that's the problem, the lowest res that my camera will take them in ends up with file size of around 110K. Will need to get some software I 'spose

Hi, love that rear apron! I had the same thing when pulling mine down,
you get a bit worried when everywhere you poke it seems to crumble.
If you need ant help or want to check anything out, give me a call and come and look at mine. It's totally stripped down to the last bolt. Seems like yours has cancer in similar places so maybe we can get repair panels at the same time and save some money.
See you soon,

Yeah T54 sounds like a plan, the apron has seen better days, just one of the many bits needing replacement. Same goes for heater channels, bottoms of the door pillars, front firewall if thats what its called......the list goes on and on. Would like to have a look at your shell one of these days.
