Through no choice of mine it was time for a new bug.
I searched for a while as i had realized i dont have time for another build up.
This one was just about done. A few things here and there but basically done.
Came from Canberra and has been fully rebuilt. A Peter Shelley stock 1916 and just about every thing is new

New headliner, carpet, rubbers, seats brakes, motor - a full rebuild.
A head of sound deadner and rust stopper
Even a new dash was put in
Lucky for me - the owner wanted to move on

Had a few troubles with transfering the rego to NSW - but all is sweet now
Richard @ V Force has put new struts in and some new Spyders
FInally settled on 195 65s rear and 195 60's front.
These are 4 bolt 130 pcd - so a simple set up

even the boot is smick
An arty farty one
Marty (as in Matini Olive) is a rack and pinion 1975 L bug
Hence the name change from Blue 74L :thumb
Thanks Lee - it took me a while to realize the time and effort required
and from the rear
and a favourite pic i took today
noice.. clean car
The motor is a 1916 but runs stock exhaust and carbs
So all was changed was pistons and barrels. This has taken it to 50 ponies at the wheels and that is a nice improvement.
I miss my Boxster wheels from the last one but the spiders are great. Reckon for 15" they are the best choice. 6" fits lovely under the guards and
cheap to boot
I am just going to drive and enjoy this one
Very clean looking car. Do you reckon you will be able to hold out on doing any more mods on it? Also, what is that thing in front of the wiper box?
Fuel breather?

Gee she's nice Barry. Are you going to do any carb and exhaust work??
NO :bounce
Looks good
OK - was gunna wait till the rear was lowered but its been a while and i is wrapped over the clock.
Been looking for years for one of these.
Had a bit of fun getting it in. Knocked a wire off the speedo and it sent the immobilizer stupid. Took longer to sorth that than put it in!
Also got an original Empi woodgrain dash set. Its LHD but i think i have gotten away with a bit of artistic licence.
The pop outs have joined in
as has the shifter
It is a CSP short shift.
It is one of the best things i have bought.
You can also see the Dunnydoor brake handle. Nice little touch
I picked up some ratty OG 75L bug bumpers with the rubbers.
A bit of hammer work and some hammertone and they are pretty straight.
Sadly the rear got wiped at Balmain the other day and i have had to bolt the strip back down
A degree pulley has also been added to help in timing
A VW 1303 L badge has also made the rear.
Need to work out what to do with the 2 spare holes though
Running boards. I HATE with a passion the cheap ones and the German ones aint much better. A cheap alternative was the plain aluminium ones with a
coat of black
Got a few other mods in the works.
But i need to get the bum down an inch and change the torsion bar grommets before it starts knocking

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
I can stop looking for a clock now:thumb
Looks awesome Barry
Well..... been playing over the break.
Played with the rear, some Type 3 rear torsions, new poly bushes and different springs in the struts.
Gives it a whole new look.
Who said supers dont lower well??
[
See ya's
Barry
Love the stance mate...awesome!
Extremely nice car!
Love the '75 model :thumb
Lower! Looks good Barry.
looks pretty mean !
looks awesome Baz!
Bazza she looks hot mate!
That's what I'm talking about! You just can't help playing with them
Hey mate, do your poly bushes squeak. Mine did. Had to take them out - was driving me nuts!
looks sweet baz
Thanks guys.
the polys are fine.
Think we might have given them a squirt of silicon - cant remember.
It is certainly firm.
Stired - but not shaken
OK - been playing again. Cant help myself.
Anyway - was too low for an old bugger like me. Raised the front. Went to smaller springs (10"? with a helper spring). That put the front higher than
the back. Only by 20mm or so - but it looked wrong to me
So i have raised the rear one outer spline. Perfect now as far as i am concerned.
I have a new set of KYB shocks turning up to replace the cofabs and then i will be done.
she looks absolutly hot bizarre.. very nice indeed
love jess
