The Kombar
75_kombi - March 30th, 2005 at 02:00 PM

hey all,
heres a couple of pics of my kombi - the Kombar (with a couple of"befores")
it has been a work in progress for about 7 months.
as you can see most of the exterior work is finished (thanks to my cousin)
now i'm getting stuck into the interior. i'm decking it out to be used as some sort of party hire or something like that. i have to build the long bar for the side and one to fold out the back (which i've started outof fibre glass a bit like surfoard style construction to keep the weight down), and then put lights, speakers etc into the roof

anyway - here it is for now

Guys, cool idea! Best of luck fellas. I think it would be popular.

Andy - March 30th, 2005 at 02:21 PM

That is cool.
Would make a nice icecream van maybe?
Portable duke box?
Great work!

warb - March 30th, 2005 at 02:22 PM

VWENVY - March 30th, 2005 at 02:28 PM

Looks good!! Needs some bling bling wheels on it!!
Has to be an alcohol outlet! nothing else would do it justice :thumb

...needs mirrors on the far side wall so when your buying grog from the scantilly clad...never mind...

CoopGirl - March 30th, 2005 at 02:35 PM

That's an awesome idea!!!! Wish I thought of it!

The kombi looks tops!! Double thumbs up to you guys.

75_kombi - March 30th, 2005 at 02:42 PM

thanks guys
i definitely want to get better wheels and someother bits and pieces but i have to replenish the bank account 1st!
i would definitely like to run it as a bar myself but liquor licences/insurances etc etc would be a killer- so i plan to hire out dry and party people supply the grog!

i was going to get personalised KOMBAR plates but TAP is pretty good and i'mtold 618 means forever prosperous in chinese!

ps i'm a girl (standing inside the bus with the short blonde hair)

hehe hehe
all is good

VWENVY - March 30th, 2005 at 03:09 PM

Fossil - March 30th, 2005 at 04:57 PM

Excellent - looks the ducks nuts

VWCOOL - March 31st, 2005 at 11:18 AM

Can I help test it?! Just to be sure the... uhhh... alcohol idea works properly and all that?!

VWENVY - March 31st, 2005 at 11:25 AM

...a pull out bbq at the back would enable a long term product testing session to be undertaken!

buzzbug - March 31st, 2005 at 12:11 PM

make a trailer from the rear end of a bug and you will be set.

party central and all vw related.

HotRodMatt - March 31st, 2005 at 12:37 PM

Yeah a bbq would give it the final touch. Make for a complete portable party venue.

ColumBUS - March 31st, 2005 at 12:48 PM

theres a few of these running around indonesia and bali, great idea cheap drinks for the back packers

VWENVY - March 31st, 2005 at 12:54 PM

Lams - March 31st, 2005 at 01:43 PM

very neat! i love it

although... isn't that "bar" on the wrong side of the van?

baybuscamperkid - March 31st, 2005 at 04:48 PM

all you need is a matching one now with a fold out DJ system :cool

EgeWorks - April 1st, 2005 at 08:25 AM

It is a sweet idea. You should bring it to VW shows as well. Stock it with some juices or something, everyone would buy stuff. Very cool!

beerdoc - April 1st, 2005 at 12:37 PM

That is sweet idea an right up my alley

When do want me to install beer chiller and Taps

Beerdoctor is my business name not just a hobby believe it or not

ive got a bit of work ahead yet though

ColumBUS - April 3rd, 2005 at 08:37 PM

liquor licensing would be expensive, but certainly worth it if you live in an area with a high population of tourists/backpackers. i reckon itd be perfect at the snow fields.
