I had a blue one years ago, I put a 2 litre engine in it and a diff from a starion automatic....
all bolted straight in....

Only problem I could spin the wheels in all gears....

Could cruise at 120-130 kPH easily.....

only it was illegal....
should have used a manual starion diff....

Ratio was too high.....

Falcon Rims fit those hubs too so wide wheels are easy to get from XD XE EF etc...

tyres last a lot longer then too...

They are a very good vehicle......

Best of Luck

Nah, the 4WD ones had a Pajero mechanicals with a six-stud PCD

With some mods they are an unreal 4X4.I have had one since 1989 and it's yellow like yours. It came with a 1.8 in it,so put a 2.6 chain motor from an auto Magna( auto motors have the same bellhousing PCD as the belt motor) to give it some power, but it was hard on fuel(with the right conditions you could cruise at 160kph)Fitted 15x7 rims from a Nissan 4x4(to get the correct offset and still clear the rear sliding door when it opens) with 10R tyres and a 2inch body lift kit and 2 inch raised rear springs. You can just wind up the front torsion bars. You will have to cut the rear of the front guards to clear big wheels and I cut the front steps as well for clearance. Most just leave them off,but with the extra body height it's a pain to climb in.I also still have a JA Starion Turbo and as far as I can remember they all had manual transmissions. There must have been a non turbo model, but don't remember seeing one. There is no way you would fit the diff out of mine into a Van without major work-it has open drive shafts with coil over struts and a complex set up for the pivot arms. The diff centre is almost as big as a Ford 9 inch.

Thanks Paul :thumb

My rims were for a Nissan Navara which gave all the correct clearance issues. When I modded mine-I did it all at the same time,motor,suspension,140litre fuel tank, wheels, underbody water tank, roobar, body lift kit, etc.I lifted the body off the chassis to do all the work and from memory for the front guards I put masking tape over where I needed to cut then used a jigsaw to cut the outer and inner skin. You need to cut back to the mudflap and up the lip about 6 inches.Just painted the edges with rust paint then filled the gap with silicone-never gave any grief.Made up new bigger mudflaps all round with some 2.5 Ally and some insertion rubber rivetted to the Ally to protect from the wider tyres. If you want to go with more rim out the guards, you can extend the lower rear link for the side door to allow it to open wider without fouling the LHR tyre. You will need a new speedo driven gear to get the speedo correct-I should be able to give you the size you need to order. If you have any probs, shoot me an email,I may be able to help.
