1972 SUPER SPORTS BEACH BUGGY

Owner : Matthew Thompson

Chassis : 1964 Volkswagen Beetle with 3” lift kit

Body : Super Sports (Built in Brisbane in 1972)

Engine : 1992 Subaru EA 81 1800cc (Engine Adaptor by John Sherman)

Radiator : Front mounted; VW Golf

Brakes : Front Mazda Discs and Calipers (Kit by John Sherman)
Rear VW Type 3 Station Wagon Drums
Converted to Dual Circuit with a Gemini Master Cyclinder
All Brake Lines renewed


Suspension : Front :Standard King and Link with Adjusters fitted to enable 3inch lift; Bump Stops and Sway Bar removed for more Travel
Front Shock Mounts moved for clearance. Centre Tunnel clearanced for Tie Rod

Rear: Converted to IRS using Type 3 Torsion Bars, Diagonal
Arms, Pivot Boxes and CV joints

Transaxle : VW Type 3

Exhaust : Custom built by Owners

Steering Column : Gemini

Barwork : Roll Cage –6 point cage, with side intrusion bars. Tube Bending by Advanced Exhausts, Fabrication by owner, Final Welding by Geoff Stenhouse, Nerimbera
Nerf Bars – Designed and welded by Owner


Seats : Race Seats with harness

Wheels : Front 235X75R15
Rear 31X10.5

Wipers : Combination of Mini Moke Motor (Two Speed) VW and Landrover

Hey, what have you done with your Sump...
You have very similar setup to my manx and MAN my sump hangs too low so I keep dragging my ass..

Most defiantely not spray on mud. that photo is a day after I rolled it!!!!!


And my bar-work has stayed on for at least 9 months now:P

Havent done anything to the sump......... yet

Am making my own shortened sump soon, along with a supercharger for the Subaru
