Many thanks to Davo (aka ragged) & Franko for thier efforts on sorting out my Square so far. The car came with history and has done 140 Miles

Still have a bit of work to go, but most happy so far.

- Fitted Empi Sprint Stars with 145 & 165 Michelin XZX Rubber
- New Pedders Shocks All Round
- Dropped One Notch at the front and around 10 degrees at the back
- Fitted new number plates.....

Work to be done

- Fitting strong second hand motor and gearbox as the original ones are tired
- A Mesh Visor and Interior Console with tacho are on the way
- Have an old skool roof rack to Install and maybe some Venetians and Whitewalls.

shaginwagin - April 25th, 2005 at 09:28 PM

Mine's sitting on the bump stops as it is. :thumb

Davo & Franko fitted the replacement motor and trans today - wow what a difference....think I'm in love...if only the exhaust was bigger.................

Dannyboy - April 25th, 2005 at 11:28 PM

Mmm , maybe replace the shock with some thing different and hack some out of the stops . Thats what i've been playing with this w'end. Put koni's on up front and it's changed things no end. The front was all over the place and rubbing on big hits! No more though. How low was the rear??? I went 2 notch's and lower would just be insane to drive around here. The car has also dropped slightly since first done and i have got to get the rear guards rolled this week. KYB Gas shocks on rear $40 each from CIS !!! My rides in members forum if you want to look at ride heights ever.

Good luck with your project , great to see some more late's getting the treatment!

Cheers Dan:thumb

BLUE_62 - April 28th, 2005 at 12:57 AM

Hahaha. Points for the rego plates :thumb

Shit yeah, go white walls and the roof rack. Venetians are an awesome touch..... accesories are the best part to owning a car ;)

Oh an there is the driving it part too. :D

shaginwagin - April 28th, 2005 at 01:11 PM

Cheers for the comments so far :thumb

I know some of you dudes have the philiosophy of "Too Low is not low enough" and I agree it certainly looks the goods, but surely it's gotta be totally impractical to have a daily driver that's lowered three notchs.

1) Handling would be compromised by massive changes in Camber & Caster
2) Chewing out tyres like a bastard
3) I would like to be able to transport people in the back, luggage for holidays and tow the odd trailer.
4) I like to know the cops won't defect my ass on site :thumb

That said everyone's entitled to do their own thing...

Nice square shagin... IMHO the ride height is perfect. My notch is low and the ride sucks because the front does not have much travel and Sydney roads have much to be desired. I am looking into raising it a notch (no pun intended) soemtime in the future. wheels look nice as well. Have you thought of painting the centers black and just leaving the spokes grey/silver?

shaginwagin - April 29th, 2005 at 11:37 AM

Cheers for your comments Octa. My ride is pretty jiggly as it is, so would hate to think what they ride like if another notch lower.

I definitely want to paint the Sprint Star centres black, but it would be a turd of a job to do nicely as there are no hard edges to work with, and I am anally retentive and couldn't tolerate having wonky lines etc.

My current plan is to leave the wheels and tyres as they are for 6 months or so. Then put whitewalls on for a different look, then after a little more time, do the centres black. But knowing me it will have whitewalls and black centres in around a month.. :thumb

Hey Shaginwagin,

Your ride looks really nice. I especially like the wheels. It would also be nice to add it to the Type 3 Registry for the rest of the World to see.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dennis
