The story goes something like this, long long time ago there was a green kombi, hahaha nar.
more like this. My mum had been driving a green and white bay window bus for over 17 years, before i was born and over the years it slowly started to
really show its age. Mum loved it and couldnt see herself driving any other car. Then one day the motor that had served for most of the 17 years
pulled a rocker stud and ran out of rego in the same week. By this stage it was a pretty rusty green kombi and was looking very tired and needed abit
of time spend on it to make it nice again and we thought what can we do to get out of this!!! In the mean time we rebuilt the motor and refreshed all
bearings and put a slightly bigger cam in for mum. Anyways back to the kombi. One day I was looking through the for sale section on the
aussieveedubbers forum when i came across a green bay window microbus with out motor!! I called dad quick quick check this out! dad said
''SOLD''!!! But we didnt know wat to do with the old bus cause it wasnt worth anything as a whole, so i put a post up on the for sale section of
the aussieveedubbers forum (WRECKING BAY WINDOW KOMBI!) and sold plenty of things off the bus on and off the forum. before the new bus turned up the
old one was gone..... Mum was very happy with her new bus as it had a full interiour and a RADIO!!! over the week end i put the motor in and got it
all setup and then dad spent the next day sorting it out and now she runs like a dream! mum said the wheels look like trolly wheels so we went and
talked to a mate of ours about some merc wheels for the bus and he came up with some of these gas burner style rims off a late model merc (16 inch).
scored them for a nice 500 bucks with tyres!!! Soo now mum back on the road again in style and happier than ever and with a radio and nice wheels!
love ya mum! :kiss :party
haha reads like a kids book!
heres a pic of the new bus with the merc wheels.
Very cool Big Al. And it looks almost the same as the old bus, without the rust bits!!! HECTIC:thumb
Looks fantastic! Hope my boys will keep me in an awsome Kombi like this! (mind you thats some time off concidering they are only 2.5yrs and 8months old LOL!) But hey! start 'em young!
thanks for the old bus .....reincarnated the running gear into a 67 split in melberg..cheers dsk steve ps...it works well as a shed for storing parts at the moment
Yes many people said WOW what a resto!! Sounds hectic to with the webbers!!
Mums done alot for me over the years soo i thought the least i can do is get her bus going! Im sure if you get the young fellas into some vw pedal
cars they will be into them for life!
