Sounds like a blank canvas to me! How much do ya wanna spend?
Classic look? Racer look? Sleeper? Rat?
You might have to be more specific..
Welcome to the forum btw... :beer
if its that good "original thick paint so you can polish it up and it stays shiny for a month"sort of good paint then all you need is make sure the motor is serviced regulary so that doesnt piss you off then lower it with some 17" rims and your there , to start with anyway the the world is your oyster as above get some ultra vw mags and pic a stlye and only your walletwll hold you back
I am thinking about going for the whole strret look kinda thing..:thumb
wheres kikko....get a whale tail *insert evil laugh*
go the german look
u sure its a 68? looks earlier
looks 67 perfect for a late sixties drag bug/street racer but keep with sixties styling
Yeah it is a 68 but i cant bet my hand on it thats what guy said that i bought it off i shall find out anywayz .. but yeah Kroozzn62 do you know where i could see a drag bug /street racer ??
drop it.
Thats kool ahh just a question whats the best way to do that like drop spindles or chop and cut or what?
hey RB
try looking under the rear seat for the chassis number.....if it starts with 118 then it's a 68
looks earlier though with the bumpers and guards and also the brakes are wide five
to lower mine i'm using dropped spindles and avis adjusters on the front and turning the springplates on the rear a notch or two
cheers
sean
Dude it's definitely at least a '67. Awesome! Go the street/retro racer look. Concentrate on the important stuff first (engine, brakes, suspension)
then worry about cosmetics (ie: don't do what I did :blush). I like the ratty paint already.
Just my 2c
I dunno anything about lowering beetles (or beetles in fact) :cry
Just how to photochop 'em.
I have gone and looked in my car and you guys were right it is a 67 model so pssh to the guy that told me it was a '68 :repuke
Well this vw seems to have some serious identity crisis it turns out that this vw is infact a '68 model but it was registered as a '67 model but it
is 68 model the chasis number is a 119 number .. so yeah i dunno
so yeah who knows??
Might not be the original body '
have a look at the date stamped on the back of the speedo
It is the original body for the chasis yeah the numbers on the body and the chasis are the same so dont know..
So any other ideas as to what could happen with this beetle?

A 119 number would make it a 69 model and it definately aint that!
I agree, far too many things saying pre '68: bumpers, running board trim, bonnet, headlights/fenders, brakes, wipers etc.
Hey i what type of rims do you guys out there reckon would suit my Vw i can't decide ..

if your old wheels are 15 inch do u want to sell them?
Hey
Anthiron nah my wheels arent 15''
kikkos here pyro... and if he wants a body kit i have a beautiful one with awesome paint... fit late 60s beetle too!
your car is def pre 68 as they said bonnet ,guards ,wipers. stud pattern on wheels
door handles
would make a good baja
