Here ya go!
Thanks Tassie!!
It's my only 'action' photo!!!
All in a days work my friend!
and how was this for a view out the front screen!
That's what I love to see KOMBI'S!!!
your mirror looks a little raged though!!
Your not sposed to be looking at that!
LMAO!
:thumb:thumb:thumb
Nice kombi!!! :thumb:thumb:thumb
Is that a rooftop tent on the roof bars?
Thanks KruizinKombi,
No it's just a roof rack with a full length board. Keeps some heat out as well as a high vantage point.
The plan is to also make an awning to come from each side!
Andy
your Kombi is absolutely beeudiful hope my wife never sees it or I will have to be doing a respray!:thumb
Thanks Mate!!
You have a nice collection also (with the Humber!!)
It was a painfull decision to use it on the beach, and he's done plenty of dirt miles since the restore, but at the end of the day they were made
as a work vehicle and Andy's doing plenty of work for me!!
Don't know if I'll ever use it as hard as Kruzin kombi though :o
yep vehicles were made for a purpose & I can only afford to own them if they can fulfill their intended function The Humber is 40 years old now
& does a minimum 450ks a week, the Kombi only does 250ks a week, each Jan for the last 5 years the Humber has done about 6000ks which includes the
mandatory Gold Coast trip,
WHEN used as intended you have more FUN, from what pictures I have seen, Kruizin Kombi has LOTS of fun, & Amazer has LOTS of fun, taking used as
intended even a step further
Here's Andys dash with gauges.
Note the deluxe steering wheel and trip meter speedo (not that you can see it)!!
I have 3 gauges in the dash, CHT, Oil pressure and vacuum.
Beheath the dash RHS is RPM, volts and Tacho.
Now for a real clock!!!!!! :thumb
It looks awesome!!! :thumb:thumb:thumb
You obviously think along the same lines I do. I have a fat steering wheel lined up, and I'd be interested in CHT and Oil gauges for my own peace
of mind. I have a type three tacho mounted where your clock is (it fits amazingly well!!) and I intend to start looking for a trip speedo when the
finances allow.
I've got a full-length roofrack, to which I want to fit a piece of marine ply as a decking, with a pull out awning on one side (over the door)
and the tube for my windsurfer mast on the other side.
Maybe I better paint it to match yours!!!
Cool dash Andy!
I have to get two more to match you!
I was lucky enough to have had a original clock in it when I bought it!
Who did you score the under dash tray from, is it one of Alec's from Klub VW, I have been promising myself one for age's, never seem to
get one though!
Rob.....
Robo, the tray came from Hardings, not sure who makes them though. Not sure how they are supposed to be fitted so I have made up brackets to hold it
in place (pretty dodgy ones though). I didn't want to just screw it to the panel work I assume other people do.
Kruizin, there's only on Andy. Besides I'm sure you have better plans for your work horse. How common are the trip meter speedo's?
:thumb
Hey Andy
Can you remember how much it set you back!
Rob....
I'm interested in an under dash tray also. May be a good group buy
Don't remember exactly. I only buy from them in big lumps to get a discount.
I do remember seeing them at the swap meets ~$80mark :thumb
love the ride man looks sweet especially the thray under the dash thats kool :bounce
'77 Deluxe dash
So, which looks better, old or new??
Anyone have a black faced clock they don't need??
[Edited on 9-6-2003 by Andy]
Pre '73 dash???
New looks better in a late bay :thumb
I've got the later grey km speedo, but I'm swapping it over to black to match the type 3 tacho.
So I'll have to get an old Deluxe Kombi to go with the Dash??
Will have to make room for another project
That sounds like an excellent idea!! Are you going to paint it in colours to match the current kombi?
If I ever get that far Col (very unlikely) I will stick with what it left the factory with, as I did with Andy.
I procrastinate too much to decide on a colour, so the fatory numbers makes it easy
Andy is a '77 deluxe and comes from the factory without the bulkheads behind the seats.
You can see this in the pic. It also shows the base the swivel bolts to.
The swivels I used come from KAB seating in Rocklea
http://www.kabseating.com.au/online/profile/kab.asp
The seat then mounts with rails to the top of the swivel itself. Sorry I don’t have any pics of the assembly.
If you want to do this I recommend getting info of the swivel base you plan to use, the seats you will use, a details of how it all is to be mounted
into the body. Take this along to a place that can give you a mod plate for the changes. It’s best to do this FIRST before you do all the hard work
and find out it can’t be approved. I did all this and got a blue plate no worries.
About the only down side to them, is my seats sit a good inch or more higher than the standard seats, and it obviously isn’t original any more.
Cheers,
Andy
Another angle
Very artistic with all these angles:P and also very cool
cool angles :thumb i got an underdash tray too now....it was this post that made me want one :P
Whooooa man
Didn't know you were so full on with the tidy up. Andy won't know himself!
Rob...
I love this sort of thing, motivates me to go and pull the oval apart
