What's different visually between yours and later ones?

71EJVan - October 26th, 2005 at 08:19 PM

Very straight Leigh. Do you have any before pictures to show the change? I wich my 71 lowlight panel would turn out as good but alas I think it has had too hard a life.

ColumBUS - October 26th, 2005 at 08:45 PM

lovin it, how did you manage historic rego with empi fives? thought it had to be totally stock with only very minor changes (like 6volt conversion in old beetles)

Anthiron - October 26th, 2005 at 09:49 PM

the difference is the indicators are below the headlights instead of on either side of the front grille like the later ones

byronbus - October 26th, 2005 at 10:46 PM

I do like early bays, wouldnt mind one, and looks unreal lowered

Just started rust work on my 69.
Same as yours too.
They are the best bay I think.
Go the white dash bays.

YIOughta - October 27th, 2005 at 08:04 AM

very nice bay!!

vw59 - October 27th, 2005 at 06:36 PM

Hi,

Sorry don't have any pics with me at the moment to show the change. It was a one owner car which mean't it hadn't been butchered like so many have. The middle seat was pulled out on day one and kept in a shed. Every seat is original, only the back seat has a small 4 cm tear at the top. The rest are as new.

Historic rego allows period accesories, which means you can grab a hot vw's 1970 etc and scan the pages for accesories of the era. Bingo empi 5 spokes!

Thanks 'two guns' for picture, will keep. But I don't want to change the suspension. Everything is stock except for the radio. Even has the original dealer sticker on the back window. 'Youngs of Collaroy'.

I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it on not at the moment. Below is a couple of pictures of my daily driver, the beetles been retired to the shed . Once again lucky enough to pickup a very clean one owner 1977 microbus with all the trimmings.

Cheers Leigh

1303Steve - October 29th, 2005 at 12:43 PM

Hi

Well done, another VW saved from the crusher. His neighbours must think he is seriously VW afflicted, he has the 2 kombis and a really nice 1303 at his house, then just about every visitor to his house drives a VW and when the new garage is done he can bring home his 59 bug, what a household.

vw59 - November 5th, 2005 at 06:47 PM

Yer Rhys winter project is finally finished. We finished it two weeks after Sawtell. Wished we'd been able to cruise up there in it. Drives very very nice. Sits on 110 very nicely.
Summer project is the house. Thinking a great winter project for next year is inject the 77 bus, have all of the parts, but just need the time.

:bounce
