Picked up the wife's new (to us) car last week. :bounce
2001 V5 Bora. Black with tan leather interior. Electric and power gizmos everywhere. Oettinger body kit - front and rear spoilers, side skirts and
wing.
It is a MY2002 spec which gives her the 170 hp engine. Tammy says it goes like a rat up a drain pipe and speeding tickets are imminent.
It has an Oettinger badge on the grill, does this mean it could have a chip? How do I tell?
Tammy also says if I'm really, really good I MIGHT be allowed to drive it
Rob
hmmmm nice!!!
hope you dont have kids like me with an interiour like that!!!
Alex
oooh youre going to get into a lot of trouble with a car like that!
Rob you`ll have to bring it to the shootout
I've never seen a chip for the V5 Boras
The oettinger badge is there because the grill is Oettinger. Looks like you've got the full Oettinger body kit as well! They're not cheap to buy
seperately
Fortunately Alex no kids and the dogs are only allowed in the Kombi.
Tammy has already put aside money to pay for the speeding fines. :thumb
Spoke with Shimo today and he took it for a drive , he says it may be chipped but only mildly. Apparently there is no way to physically check the chip
and even plugging in a diagnostic computer won't pick it up. The chips for this model are not removed or physically tampered with, you just hook the
computer up to a phone line, contact the chip people and they download the codes direct to the car, this is untraceable even by VW dealership
computers.
Only way to tell for sure would be to do back to back dyno runs with a known stockie.
