my new 64!

this is my new ride bought it off dragbug 3 weeks ago since then i have lowered the front a bit more added porsche 356 rims with atlas whitewalls painted the sides red added the chrome back on the sides replaced 1200 motor with a 1600s/p that i got off resto 64 last friday.

and for the record, same paint, same wheels..... looks identical.

Good on mattie for getin it done, but it looks identical to another car that i am close to and that rubs me up the wrong way. Your car should take on a whole new character, not be a carbon copy of another car in another state. sure there are probably 100 cars like this all over the world. but working to create a car that is so similar to another is beyond me.

Anyhoo... goodluck to mattie and i hope he develops this car more into something that is alot more original, in his own style i see this as just the begining.

What's the problem, why should it rub you up the wrong way?? Did it occur to you that since the other car is in another state, as you say, then maybe mattie doesn't know too much about it, if anything at all? What's wrong with buying a satin black bug off someone & deciding to put red on the sides?

Do we need to start a national paint, wheels & ride height register so that once you've done something no one else can pick the same combo?

Hey look at the pic below, this was on the Volksenthusiasts website a couple of years ago, this will really piss you off...

Shit when I've painted my Oval in Pastel Green, I had better not put on empi 5 spokes, or you'd be pissed off that I've "copied" Golde60. I had better not try & track down a ragtop like I was going to, thats been done before too. Too bad if I liked the style & wanted one for myself.

This may come as a surprise, but in the last 40-50 years chances are just about everything we are doing to our cars, has probably been done before by someone, somewhere.

What's the point in getting so uptight?

I think it looks great mate:thumb and as i am also from adelaide dont think i have seen that colour combo around here at all...sure to be a looker !!!
You drive it so thats all that matters. Been deciding on a colour for my square, and decided on white roof and black or satin black body..thats the scheme that rocks my socks..seen it a lot on different sights dont mean i'm copying.!!! just think its a great combo..look forward to seeing ya on the road someday..................... :starhit:

I know i bloke who's car i saw 12 years ago in england which runs the exact same guise.
Well before anyone here painted red on black.
He's been building them longer then most of us!!
Yet he would be the first person to get on the phone and send congrats to mattie for his effort.

If all you have to worry about is how similar a persons car looks compared to another,than you need to pull away from the screen alittle more and go start building vw's that no one has ever done.

I still say mattie has done a shit hot job, i meen christ, he has built this in no time from a bunch of parts, that deserves mad props, but the paint....... just annoys me thats all..... no one will understand im sure, and im not going to try to explain myself. it doesnt matter and its caused more trouble than it is honestly worth im not trying to start shit,
