looking good whats the exterier colour going to be

HGFS - November 26th, 2005 at 12:21 AM

Na its not boring, I reckon its kinda exciting seeing a shell at this stage, the anticipation of how damn good its gonna look in that top coat. I cant wait till my Oval is at this point, I've got all the scary metal replacement still ahead of me.

Looks nice, interesting colour suits the year well I think. Love those retro sorts of colours, what is it? Should look the goods when the outside is done.

looking good crewcab i love looking at progress pics,is that turkis green?

rob

crewcabconnection - November 26th, 2005 at 02:13 PM

nope it is pretty close to Pampas Green, but a bit more candy...Wals bus is Turkis...the whole thing is gonna be the same colour. 65Busser is doing most of the trim in light grey...trying to avoid black, apart from the BRMs....it's an anti-bling thing...starting a new trend...ein Bus, eine Farbe.

pete wood - November 29th, 2005 at 12:31 PM

did you end up buying that turbo motor for it or are you gonna stick with the stocker for now?

BTW, who's doing your paint? looks sweet :)

crewcabconnection - December 5th, 2005 at 07:51 PM

stocker for now ... heres a few more pics today. I'm yet to see it in the daylight ...Thanks to Kimm at Indian for the pics. Gotta modify the spring plate adjusters to accommodate the BRMS and rubber, which is why its still got those shite rims on it ... still at least it's got doors now...

No to the turbo, spoke to Dave B and KG, the work that had gone into it would have been wasted to a large extent, as it would need major mods to get in the splitter...better for a bug - and it was a great price ay....so sticking with the 1600TP and the Lbug box for now, should be okay for now....he said, sulking over not having a Sube motor like Pete.

Superb - I think the drop sills blend in effortlessly. Nice work - what wheels will you be running (or is that secret?)?

Got some black BRMs ... but need to modify the adjustable spring plates to get enough travel to to get them into the back end...hense the old rims. I had to go with 205/65R15s to get the load rating I need on the back. Long story, but basically more mods needed on the suspension.

The back is Indian bolt in IRS with their adjustable front beam etc., so there's a bit of work still to do to get it right.

Hanging out for that photo....

ColumBUS - December 6th, 2005 at 07:54 AM

GoLfMan - December 6th, 2005 at 10:30 AM

nbturbo - December 6th, 2005 at 10:50 AM

crewcabconnection - December 10th, 2005 at 07:29 PM

BenettonVW - December 10th, 2005 at 08:04 PM

Crew.. Thanks for the pics. I have a 67 Panel, and needless to say, pics like this inspire me.

But I have noticed something on yours, that isn't on mine. You have an extra set of vents to me. I only have upper vents, where as on the opposite side to your petrol filler,(LHS), has extra vents, being the lower set.

Any reason? Or do you not know why this is the case either?

65busser - December 10th, 2005 at 08:32 PM

Aren't the vents a 67 thing?

crewcabconnection - December 10th, 2005 at 09:51 PM

Muller thinks that this might in fact be as late as 68...Australian Panels in 67 Had two sets of venys as 65Busser sez. Above and below. The ones above are plated off, but force air down. They are also inverted as compaired with a windowed van...Steve sez it's rare as, I've been trolling 'the samba' and can find out squat. They are the same both sides...look cool...but they we're rough as guts...took weeks to straighten...and they are damn sharp, so work stopped a lot due to loss of blood....

Australian one ...

Yankee one - and I liked this bus! it's earlier though and I think Mango Green

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c301/crewcabconnection/235876.jpg

and a Yankee 67 - but someone modded the rear vent...but you can see what most of them look like...

BenettonVW - December 11th, 2005 at 09:15 AM

Hmm.. Well, without taking over the thread, I just took a pic of the panel, and I am leaning towards it being a 66 then..
What do you think?

_dmb_ - December 11th, 2005 at 09:46 AM

it's a 67 , 66s had the vents above the waistline but without the solid part in the middle. all "double vents" buses are 67
it is an australian and south african only thing.
but.....
a small number of 67s had double and a half vents like ccc's

crewcabconnection - December 11th, 2005 at 09:54 AM

thanks Mr Dog. Why have windows when you can have vents.

BenettonVW - December 11th, 2005 at 10:05 AM

Thought so, but thanks for the clarification. Don't spose it matter as long as it is in the driveway.. ;)

Anyway, nice bus CCC, wicked man.

Southern Van - December 11th, 2005 at 12:45 PM

Thats one nice panel crewcab. As you can see I like panels
