Super-vert baja
droopz - December 5th, 2005 at 09:20 AM

Well 'they' said it would never happen, but EVLHRBY, a superbug-convertable, is now nearly baja-fied.

A few things left to do, like mount up the donaldson aircleaner, fit the small engine cover and get some 14" mud tyres. Then its time to make up the engine cage, front bumper and mod the exhaust.

Anyway, some pics of the thing;

Not sure if im totally happy with the front fenders. I think i might cut back another inch to open them up more like the rears.

its different ill give you that, admitedly tho, my super has seen some fun dirt action in its time, nothing major, just fire trails and the like, it was great, and its got stock suspension, panels, skinny rubber, and the arse saggs, gotta watch out for taller bits cause it could get messy, seems just as good as a suzi seirra stockaman ute we use 2 have while in darwin, ride is more comfy then it too:smilegrin: enjoy playin in the dirt, and hoep you have a dust mask, red/bull dust isnt healthy and goes bloody everywhere, might be a good idea to raise the arse alittle tho

Yeah, its at its standard high right now, and with the 14" wheels it doesn tgive it the kind of clearance id like. I was really hoping to get some much taller rims/tyres for the back first, then see if i still need to raise it. Ill probably end up leaving it untill the first time i get bogged :P

simlpe solution, leave it for the dry season, but then you have dust, your choice, lotsa dust or lotsa mud, sounds very fun, i wanna baja 2

Ive got a turbocharged 5.7ltr Camaro for the dry season... this one is definatly for getting dity in.

Anthiron - December 5th, 2005 at 11:44 AM

definatly needs more height to compensate for the approach angle. or perhaps u could cut it back and weld a different support peice in.

id seriously be l;ooking at 15 inch rims.

ColumBUS - December 5th, 2005 at 12:34 PM

you need to get rid of that bonnet handle... waay too shiny!
upgrade to 15 inch rims and buy yourself some bfg mud terrain tyres... the best value for money we can find, and a super agressive self cleaning tread that runs great on the road as well.

ps 15 inch 4 stud rims are super easy to find... grab some stockies, get them widened, attach rubber and a set of bead locks of you never ever want to pop the bead again... pneumatic bead locks are great and cheap too, perfect for your car (though exterior bead locks look the sex, they are more expensive and not road legal)

Took a little video of its first outting. Nothing flash at all, but gives you an idea of what it sounds like at least.

Gotta get some mud tyres for it tho, after we filmed a bit i got a little ambitions as got it bogged in some very wet mud :S
