For about 8 years now i have been collecting parts for the build up of my bug. These are IRS floorpan, gearboxes, type 4 engines, Porsche brakes and
wheels, suspension components, 914 guages speedo and tacho, Interior trim pieces, basically lots of parts andof course the bug itself. Here's some
photos:
There is still a of work to do, but progress is getting made,
Cheers Damo.

Something tells me this is going to be good. What are your plans?
Plans are to put this old sweetie on the pan and push it along with a 2613cc type 4 with 44 IDF's initialy then custom fuel injection setup. Once i
get my new shocks for it i will put the body on after i do rear body mount mod then i will take a pic for you all. Cheers Damo.

looks the goods.
can you take a couple of pics of the connections for the sway bars.
I have the same bars for mine, and would just like to see how they are meant to look when its all put together.
Cheers.

G'day Damien - good to see some pics of your handiwork thus far! Give me a yell when you are ready for the DTM.
Alan
Any more updates Damo? Will talk to you soon re. picking up your DTM.
The only work so far on the pan is the installation of the master cylinder and rigid brake lines, also i will be changing the rear stub axles and
gearbox drive flanges with ones from CB using the kombi c.v. flange. Found out that my brothers mate runs a Fulcrum suspension shop so will be able
to get good shocks at cost :thumb. Engine side of things the parts are ready for assembly bottom end wise, after getting my DTM yesterday have
decided will build a 2270cc type 4 first then when funds allow will go to 2613cc as i scored a good set of original german 94mm cylinders from a 2
litre type 4 i bought recently, and have them bored and honed for 96mm KB pistons heres some pics for you all. Cheers Damo.
And some more of engine and floorpan.
Good to see some more pics Damo - those rods are just drop dead sexy! Good to see the first two DTMs in Oz (correct me if I am wrong) will be on a pair of QLD dubs! :thumb
Alan, here's some pics of the case mods for the DTM, i did today, cheers Damien.
Sweet Damo! I'm sure you'll do it, but remember to cut the tab off in front of the alternator stand. Keep the pics coming mate!
Just some sub assy for checking and clearanicing, crank is DPR 78.4mm T1 journals, RAT Cam, CB 5.5" super race rods, modified Schadek 30mm oil
pump.
Is the cam split duration Damien? I know Raby is a big advocate of them to improve the efficiency of the heads!
Damien-are your CB drive shafts modified Type1's with the bigger boss welded on,or complete new castings?
Das the cam is a split duration cam, nbturbo i haven't got these yet so i don't know only looked at em on their site bust they look like new castings.
Thanks-I have checked a couple of US sellers-and they have a core charge or a change over service-so they are reworked items.
this looks insane! looking forward to following this thread!
nick
nice keep it coming!
I have put my 66 project on hold, due to the fact that i have a very good condition 72 auto notchy sitting idle in my shed, that i am tidying up to
sell, at the moment it has a 1914cc engine with Engle W100 cam with twin 40 IDF's stock valve heads. I will be building a type 4 2 litre for it and
sell the 1914 type 3 engine as I need to free up some funds to finish my 66. So here's a pic of the notchy, in about 2-3 months it should be ready
for sale, then i can continue on my 66.
man, just sell it as is. sounds like a great little car.
Yeah Damo - that is a super tidy notchy. That will make someone very happy! :thumb
It's been a while since i have posted on my project but have pulled the finger out and got some new parts, got new front discs and also got a Kafer
cup bar which will be installed by the weekend, have put in all the rigid brake lines and currently having a go at fitting two rigid stainless fuel
lines if i ever go to fuel injection, I have welded the rear frame horns and welded in a small brace from the rear torsion bar housing to the front
gearbox mount, i also have welded the seems on the shock towers on front beam after all this time hopefully the pan should be finshed by this weekend,
new CB Performance rear irs stub axles with type 2 cv flanges are on their way along with some CB Rhino trans mounts. Then i will get the SSC
transaxle rebuilt with super diff, 002 bus box 3rd & 4th gears, heavy duty side plate. So hopefully soon i can put the body on and see if the stance
is right, by the way will need a few lads to help me lift the body onto the pan, here's some photos of me brakes that are finally done. Cheers
Damo.
she,s looking good mate luv project pics :thumb
That Pan looks great Damo. Should drive pretty sweet!
Do you still have the Notch, I think Rod Richo(48 IDA) was Looking for a cherry one for his next project.
Yep i still got the notch it's in the shed sitting idle so let him know if he wants to come have a look, cheers Damo.
just a thought Damo, but that pan would go heaps faster with a light buggy body on it instead of a heavy of bug body.
I had to get a custom set of Flexi brake lines made to fit the brembo's that i am using, i found Wide bay brake hose service in Hervey bay. I sent
the dimensions i needed and two days later they were in the mail box, they were $50 each but they are teflonhose with stainless brading and a clear
plastic coating with a bend/lay line marking on them and they are tested to 5000 psi, they look the goods and fit perfectly. They meet ADR7 standards
also, so no soft pedal for me when i hit the picks.
