Star Date : 2 weeks to Narooma...
Well the 67 Panels got all the bit on, just over 18months since the total resto started. Think the only thing on it that was there before is the
glass.
Fingers crossed Mr Blue slip will say yes tommorrow...thanks to all that have helped out in the last year or so, not least the 'shop' that built it,
but all the DSKers and AVDers that have helped get it to this point...
Next time it appears, it will have plates!

If i had two extra arms, i'd give you
four thumbs up!
Good job! I just hope that it' going to get lowered after you get your blue/yellow/pink slip!
"Bloody bewdifull" mate. Nice body job and love the wheels and colour!!!:thumb
Runs IRS, Adjustable Spring Plates and Adjustable Beam - all Indian - but no, not getting lower than this...I'm starting a new trend ... well in fact
there is a lot of weight gonna be in it when the interiors done (next), so that will drop it a little...right now it's factory height...
Colour is Pampas Green - a Beetle colour I think.
I was going for the old school Empi look...sort of...got nothing against slammed rides, but I like the 'slightly' lowered look, like this...sort
of...
thats such a bewdiful panel.
bet u get ur blue slip first go...
yeah they will me mesmorised and just give you anything you want.. great panel..
looks great.
i miss my ute, and its still in my posession definatly needs lowering though..
u will be highly unlcuky not to pass blue slip with that, looks schmick as.
still having brake issues ... Indian would like to see them better than they are right now, but then it's hard to guage as everything on there is
brand new or machined, so its more than likely that the will adjust up further once the shine's knocked off them...so guess we'll have to see.
As soon as I get some ks on it, then sure that they'll come up fine. Kinda catch 22.
I can't judge. It's a good few years since I sold off my 61 Golde Ragtop Bug and since then been spoiled, so not sure what I'm looking
for...anyway, guess I'm about to find out. Worst case...put on another new master cylinder, and go round again...
A far cry from this time last year when there was more rust than bus...
Next Project arriving on the weekend too...breaking ranks this time...gonna git myself one just like this...
Just not that low...
That panel looks beautiful! Congrats.
Are those vents standard for late split panels?
sweet ride mate.
Im with you on the height, put some stuff in there and you cant get out the drive....
sorted. Usual wtf questions like - where are wiper jets...what's that bolt for on the front 'axle'...ah...you see in 66-67 you could order a
commericial with adjustable ride height, as people in the bush needed to be up higher...ah right he sez.
I do think the fact that every damn bolt, hose etc., is new helped. He didn't look that hard. So next stop, the Robbing Transport Authority.
With zero ks on all new mechanicals, IRS etc., was a bit wary on the way down there. Suspension has dropped a bit of course, looks better now.
The promises the Chief made all came true. It goes well, stops, corners and the right is as tight as. Really can't say how over the moon I am with it
all. Learned a lot along the way from lots of good people
Plenty more to do ... but having plates will make it easier (but I've thought like that before).
Cheers for the comments ...
i'm stoked for ya...good stuff!
I think that's the same reason my bug has adjustable suspension on the front too.. when people used to take theri bugs in the snow in germany... they
needed higher ground clearence.. haha
Those vents are stock, only on 67 Australian and South African Panel Vans. Though very few we're set up like that too. Most are the usual set up. The top vents are blocked off on the inside to force air down into the engine bay. Makes it pretty rare. Hoping to check out the chassis number more, but this panel might actually be 67, but not on the road until 68, which is change over year. I like all the vents. Well spotted! Prize in the mail.
Yeah that comes from staring at Beerdoc's panel longingly while stripping it. So they're the anti-dust and heat mods they made for the Aussie market. It's a nice subtle point of difference. Congrats again on a fine bus.
how does blocking off the top vents force more air into the engine bay? Wouldn't more vents mean more air intake?
G'day,
Congrats, that is very nice!!! I like the suttle height, still comfortable ride.
I had a few of those questions also from the Roadworthy bloke: "I didn't realize these early ones had disc brakes and IRS" - "Yeah must been a
change over model, this was the last of the early ones you know" - "Ok no worries then".
My mates' '67 Panel has the lower vents blocked off ex factory.
Now time to enjoy, have fun.
Cheers, Ian.
grrr...now the blue split guys sending me the the weigh bridge to get a tare weight. But the damn place closes at 3.50, great! how helpful is that!. Have to be the weekend now...drove it home (first rain in fkin months), it slithered under the carport (just). New roller door needed now...it's all good fun aint it.
Gorgeous panel man! Love those wheels too! what are they?
