*NEW PROJECT* The start of my resto cal....
decked dubby - May 28th, 2006 at 10:34 PM

Well, i have been waiting agaes to do this, but i have finally started my 65 beetle resto.

I have had my beetle since 2000, it has a genuine 67k miles on it, and still running the original tyres. It is in amazing condition, everything works and it runs so smooth.

This pic was taken in 2001 in my front yard with my 62 standard ( now sold :sniffle: ). The 65 is at the rear.

With your vision Damo, looking forward to seeing what you do to this baby! Bags by chance finally?

Spent the day stripping the bug down. All moulds have been removed and will be taken to get polished this week. I also have a side flash which will be going on. Original bumpers are in great condition and will also recieve a polish. All bar brackets will get a trip to the powdercoaters this week also.

The body only has a small amount of rust on the drivers door and rear beaver panel, which i will replace. I will be repainting all the outer panels the original smoke grey, all done in 2k, i have also gone to the trouble of tinting the paint to exact match the underbonnet and interior. The new side flash will be done a caramel colour.

I have a large amount of original accessories that will land on this job. Once done it will be basically standard but slammed hard on the ground. The front beam will be narrowed. I also have the original plates that are in storage and will also be going back on. Inside will remain untouched but with the addition of an amp and hidden speakers, with music from a hand held mp3 player, just like the concrete truck.

Wow. magnificent shedscapes there. Looking forward to seeing the end results of the resto-cal. You certainly have some rides to be envious of and is that a Rat Fink cruiser bike I see? I have one tucked away too. Your taste is impeccable!
Great stuff!

Its actually a Dyno cruiser "Taboo Tiki" by artist Von Franco. Candy green paint, light up tiki, corn colour grips and seat etc, etc. I have two, an inside and an outside one.

Thanks to all for the kind words about my cars and my work. I am really into this bug at the moment. Because it is just so original i was always going to just tidy a couple of blemishes, then club rego it. But been thinking hard about it lately and f#ck that. It will have full rego (whats a sixth rego).

And shhhhhh, i don't have too many toys. :kiss
