does any one out there in dubb land know anything about fibre glass body kitted beetles? I've just bought a 1970 beetle ( my third ) and it looks
like the back end is porsche 911 the front has square headlights but I think it is meant to look like a slant nose 930 if I'm not making much sense
check out the attached photos

nick
Thanks for the warning guys!!!
I actually drive the green soft soft thats my avator
this one came up at a cheap price and i have only ever seen one before so i grabbed it to play with :bounce
just trying to find out some history about it as it apparently belonged to a member of Western Australian VW Club
As far as I know, this kit was made my a mob in Adelaide in the 1980s. They did a Poraga - yours - and a Porerra, which was a non-convertible kit with
'conventional' 911 nose and rear styling. The company also did a fakey Rolls Royce on a HZ Statesman/Kingswood
Hope this helps
I actually like the Porerra and Poraga. There was a business on the Gold Coast where two (one of each) were parked for years while I was at
school.
Nice looker yours, too.
N.B. deep breath, now I'm prepared for attacks and abuse

So far so good no abuse as of yet LOL
engine blew up an hour after i bought:cussing it lol explains the cheap price
in the process of putting a working engine into it and gonna give it a fresh lick of paint purple and black
I didn,t even know it was a poraga when i bought it i just liked the look of it so joining in here I have already learnt something new
It looks kinda cute in an ugly sort of way...
It's different, and I'd love to see how it ends up!
She lives again
took hubby 5 hrs to change motors
next step rubbin her back LOL i mean sandin the paint off with a lot of elbow grease
does anyone know of anyone in WA who has a Poraga ?
Well there you go, someone who's proud to own one. Good on ya, I wouldn't, but then who am I to talk. I too butchered a beetle to make my buggy.
As you're about to repaint it, can I make some suggestions?
The thing the poraga suffered from more than anything else was bad proportions. The porrera was even worse. There are some simple things you can do to
help the situation.
No.1
I'd think very seriously about chopping the winscreen an inch or two and adding a straight top edge to it. Like Karmen convertables. This will sort
some of the clash of lines out. You could also lower the rollbar to the appropriate height at the same time. This may also mean needing to lower the
seat mounts.
No.2
The car would really benefit from some big wheels and low profile rubber. Poragas came with big fat guards and poxy steel powercoated rims. Why? What
you want on there are some 16" and fat ones on the back. Then lower it a little more and it should look a lot better.
Just my opinion though, do as you please.
thanks for the advice pete
all the chopping is out of my areas of expertise as me and my hubby are doing the all the work ourselves , but the fatter wheels and bigger rims are
on the plans LOL
cheers
Sharon
p.s love zak's colour
ta. It's Ford Mulberry. Has a slight metalic glint in it too. You can buy touch up cans at the local Auto One. That's why I picked it.
i gotta say, that matt black looks better on it then anything i have seen!
ford mullberry is a cool colour when I first got my green bud it was orange and blue (yuk) so we painted it ford mullberry
cool, i don't blame you for changing to green though. seems to suit the car better.
yeah it suits her thats why she called toula from fat pizza , she is loud short and bright
LOL but now she is my husbands car he wants to
call it Habib

stop it.
Stop what crewcabconnection!!!
any info at all concerning the history of poraga who started making them , how many were made etc ,, any info at all would be greatly appreciated
THANKS IN ADVANCE
I remember going to a motor show of some description in the 80's and seeing both versions of this car and thinking it would be my dream car. I can
tell you there were heaps of people going all over the two cars as well. Could well have been why I got into VW's in the first place. This was a
trend and as with everything trends change but it's good to know there is still peole out there preserving a bit of Aussie VW history.
Good luck with it.
Bobby
