makntracks - September 2nd, 2006 at 07:55 PM

Anthiron - September 2nd, 2006 at 11:33 PM

if i had the money when this came up for sale i would have bought it myself.

good starter project as the hard stuff is done. bajas dont have to be pretty. dont spend too much money on paint and body or u will be scared to scratch it.

where didu get the stinger if u dont mind me asking? and how much?

makntracks - September 3rd, 2006 at 08:03 AM

from mick motors for around $60
yeah i just want it to look a bit better and if it gets too scratch ill just change colour.

jeeze i hate sanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cussing

aussiebaja - September 3rd, 2006 at 08:31 AM

PUT ACOUPLE OF COATS OF CLEAR OVER THE ORANGE THAT WILL PROTECT IT A FAIR BIT AND IT WILL MAKE THE ORANGE LOOK REALLY DEEP AND WET ALL THE TIME

makntracks - September 3rd, 2006 at 02:25 PM

bought scat shifter today looks very bling. with new cor gear knob.

aussiebaja - September 3rd, 2006 at 05:21 PM

you wont want to get it dirty if you buy too much stuff

makntracks - September 3rd, 2006 at 06:28 PM

yeah it is starting to get a bit that way.
i put the scat shifter in today have got it all the way forward but still cant get any of the bottom gears.( reverse, 2nd, 4th.)
it seems to hit on the bottom plate. it need s to come forward more has any one got any ideas dont realy want to start cuting into my new shifter yet.
would i need to shorten the shaft that goes from the shifter to the gear box.

aussiebaja - October 1st, 2006 at 11:55 AM

thats turned out great ,,,,looks like its floating with the rags over the wheels ,,,,,needs something to break up the orange though

last celtic warrior - October 1st, 2006 at 12:03 PM

I kind of liked the original theme on this cool Baja, which I have an article on from a few years ago. I wasn't totally in love with it, but I did really like the checkers, which sort of gave it character in a racey sorta way. How about splashing a checkered stripe down the side with a twist to it... like this...

makntracks - October 1st, 2006 at 03:32 PM

yeah ive got a few different ideas to break it up. only going with 2 maybe 3 colours in the whole car im keeping it black and orange at the moment. i was thinking maybe a tread pattern across it. i also liked the old paint but it was pretty much unrepairable those little checkers where individual squares that had gone brittle and them alone took me hours to get off. just dont know wat to do for the interior (guages and the such) at the moment.
any comments appreciated

makntracks - October 1st, 2006 at 09:09 PM

pyr0 - October 9th, 2006 at 08:02 AM

looking good :tu: nice and bright too

64vwmark - October 9th, 2006 at 08:08 AM

It's looking really good. If it was my car I wouldn't do any thing else to the paint, I like the single colour. :beer

Anthiron - October 9th, 2006 at 01:55 PM

i love it.

i love orange bajas.

im with mark actually. i like the orange with the black light fittings.

maybe some stickers on the rear qtr, performance parts u have used ie: sponsor look alikes.

i can see your stereo equipment getting very wet in that thing....

makntracks - October 9th, 2006 at 03:58 PM

yeah am going sort of a recer sort of baja look lol.
will be getting some stickers for the quarters as you said.
the tail light sorounds wernt meant to be black but i forgot to paint them. so i painted them black but now i think that it needed it to braek up the orange. as for the sterio the soft top is 2 piece one bit covers the back and another covers the roof i will be running the back half most of the time any way to not make it so eye catchin to the crims. does any one know of any after martket central locking or alarms. as i have no keys and is push buttin start i put in a power cut off key like on a drag car in the back but i dont know how that will last. any suggestions or comment appreciated.
