got this 76 last year and decided to put it back on the road, a little rust and paint required
Rust
took it for a run around the block
why did VW put this foam in the pillars
even the front skuttle had some cancer
had to gett he cutting wheels out to open it up
cut out sheet metal
had to fit a new rear beaver panel the engine had cause it to rust away
Some new metal in the roof line
this was a quicky only took about 12 months to get it finished
its nice to drive didnt have to touch the motor or gearbox there great
Buggar its nearly the same colour as my 65
damm i hate rust, i'm glad earlier models don't rust there as often.
looks v nice now.
Good work Dave!
hate giving praise to you Dave but VERY nice! very stock.
Pity it wasnt a 75 then it would ride nise to boot!
What you going to do with it??
Resting smoothie for a while??
I dont think i could handle the Strut front ends LOL
Yeah the Smoothie is going to get a new engine 1835 n fuel Injection over the next few months
I am currently re doing my Garage shelfing so i can fit more junk ( VW stuff ) in there should be finished i 2 weeks or so
Cool - What sort of injection??
Microtek MTX 8 Fuel n Ignition Commondoor Injectors n Nissan throttle body etc etc etc
But GARAGE is 1st
go the '76. The last and best of the beetles
yes its fun to drive
just finished a set of Sprintstars for my daily driver
there a pain to mask up for painting
Thanks to Ollie from Melbourne for getting me some nice EMPI decals for the caps
I 4 got to ask
Black or silver wheel bolts ???? whicjh looks better
silver and very tidy work looks good
... did you do anything to the interior Dave
Looks neat ... I bet you spent some time on the wheels...nice
No the interior havd been protected by seat covers and wasnt too bad
I did spend some time on the wheels all the masking up pity i had to do them at work LOL Thanks Jen
David,
I'll post a pic of mine with the chrome bolts you got me,

your welcome
Cheers OL
very nice 76, love the front bumper! my repro bumper was hit on the front left and is now crooked, the bastards!! Anyways it was a repro, so the
original rubbers don't fit properly Sprintstars are so cool!!
