gotta come join the club! )
nice one dude welcome aboard
Now:
Im getting the bumpers for it that wrap around the sides with with rubber step on them, and the chrome trims either side. + the rear one to match,
look heaps better i reckon.
Anybody know where in VIC to get an extension for the bastard short gearstick?

looks heaps better already!:thumb
Looking sweet dude.
Keep it up.
Richard
where are u gettiing the bumpers from? i havent tried it myself, but i dont believe they will fit, if you take a look at the 1969-1972 bay kombis with these bumpers they dont have the bulkhead behind the bumper like you do. i have attached a pic of one of those busses without bumpers on so you can see. just a heads-up, looks like a nice solid bus, great colour.
Ah crap. im getting them off the guy who i bought the van off.
what are they worth with no dents?
if they're in good nic their proobably worth a bit, most of them are rusty at the ends. sorry to put a damper on it, but youl grow to love the standard bumpers pretty soon.
I picked up some nissan sports seats for it today for free, chucking em in this weekend and next weekend fitting pop top, will post up some progress

Looks like a good solid Kombi. A good starting point.
Nice Kombi ya got there mate... a 1973 Deluxe Microbus that be by the look of it. And yep... as Ryan said, the early wraparound bumpers will not fit
your bus. as they mount flush against the lower nose panel, and I believe the contours under the doors were slightly different too. You bus is the
first year with the large impact absorbing mounting welded to the lower nose, onto which the late style bumpers are bolted. The steps on yours are
built into the body, whereas on early buses there is no step in the body itself.
Don't worry... not too great a loss.. the later design is far safer in a frontal impact anyway, which is what brought about the revision in the first
place.
You maybe should see bout getting some repro delux bumper rubbers and new trim to complete the look.
Welcome to the madhaus!... and take note of Ryan's shameless plug!
Cheers!
Kieran
fitting poptop? what sort have you got?
Is it a Trakka??? :bounce:
Hang on... fitting a poptop to an unmolested Microbus????... :cry
Oh well.. each to his own
CHeers!
as you're getting the Rotary - can I have the T4 engine. Willing to collect...
can I suggest, if you really want a poptop, that you find a kombi that already has one installed on it and do that up instead. 2 reasons, one getting the poptop right is a bit of a pain, and second, the car you currrently have is worth more long term without the poptop. Please don't cut into a perfectly good roof to put a poptop in.
actually looking at selling it now, so you guys are saying its worth more without fitting the poptop? what would it be worth? its got full reg and a rwc.
Selling it already???? :duh.... Geez man wheres the love???? :kiss
In answer to your question tho, depending on rust and engine condition, I'd say between $2000 if its got a few bits of rust here and there and a poor
to average engine, up to about $4000 if the engine is recently reco'd and the bus is rustfree.
But seriously... why... sell?
It has almost no rust at all, paint is a bit meh, im geting a match spray can mixed up and ill blend it in and get rid of the primer patches of where
its been repaired.
engine was recoed 4 years ago but it has done minimal k's i rang up a Volkswagen joint (specilises in selling/buyting kombis) and he said if i fit
the poptop it will have a higher resale value and will be easier to sell, is this true?
Reason for selling, bought it for me and missus to go on holidays together, and surfing in weekends, then the other day she decides to tell me she
didnt really want me to get it, as in a "beat up" old van isnt her idea of a good holiday :blah etc etc... she could have told me this before i got
it, and not sounded interested and excited about it plus i
have a rx3 coupe i need to pour more money into
Its a shame you wanna sell. It seems like a nice ride
