Been reading but new poster

Hello to all,

I have been following this site and reading for a long time but finally decided to do my own posting.

I have attached a couple of photos from my garage.

The Country Buggy has a KO of 606 and has a new roof. I can recommend Greg Power Canvas in Toowoomba who did a fantasic job - they will need the vehicle on-site to do another as each Buggy is different.

The Audi A4 Avant quattro is a great car. It took me a while to find it as they are reasonably scarce in Australia.

The photo of my model shows only a sample of the VW and Audis . I have been collecting for more than 20 years and tend to concentrate on realistic versions.

regards

Rob

I dont know really that much about em, but is that a Thing?

Proud_Dad,

It is a Volkswagen Country Buggy created by VW Australia without (initially) the consent of VW Germany. Only some 880 (or so) were assembled and were sold from 1967 - 1969. There were actually more exported to nearby countries than were sold in Australia. The vehicle is a curious mix of Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, too many unique parts and flat body panels. For more info, try http://members.netro.com.au/~vwcc/cb.htm

The Thing (as it is known is America) is actually a Type 181 - similar in concept to the earlier Country Buggy. The 181 had both military and civilian versions. Only two vehicles came to Australia for evaluation purposes - VW decided not to market the 181 in Australia. Search the net for more information.
