Sweet score by the sound of it!!!:P
And its probably the ex 7EX buggy too Cam DOH!!!!!
Well saturday night i received a phone call from one of dad's Vw mates. He said that over the road from him in George Town Tasmania was a buggy
simaliar to his but a bit ratty. He said it had a spare gearbox, 2x Vw starter motors etc. and it was filled up with junk. He did however say that the
floor was imaculate and that it was rolling. I automaticly told him to go over the road and pay him and fix him up with the money . When i arrived on
Sunday Morning i realised that i saw it near the cematary in George Town. Anyway i had a look and it was full of rubbish, old Falcon parts, baby
photos, and plaster. Some idiot ha plasted it up on the inside and it obviously had fallen off and made a mess. The owner said that his wife was due
for a baby in 3 weeks and he didn't have the money to repair it. So i collected it and paid my dad's mate with the money. It may lookm crap but
it's fully restorable and i will slowly rebuild it. It must of had a Datsun 200b engine in it as it was full of datsun parts. If anyone knows the
history of it, please post it up.
Also what type of fiberglass body is it?
Meyers Manx? It's a four seater.
Well enjoy and i'm proud to have a $20 Buggy

Well done Will keep saving them. Nice to see the young kids appreciating and saving VWs for future generations. If only I had started at your age, maybe i would have a split window beetle now as they weren't that old back then. volma1
Well i am quite happy. Have one problem, need to find some old plans for this type of buggy.
So i know whtat to do.

Also this car is a long wheelbase, with a bonnet.
Bit of a shame 'bout the condition but what do you expect for $20!
great score,,perfect for a project will keep an eye out
mate! living my dream!
mine too
Now come to the dark side...
Well Done
Looks good mate. A bit of work.....
It's not a Manx though- they were only ever SWB for starters. Haven't seen one with bonnet ribs like that before. I remember the 7EX buggy.
(just)..
Wicked project!
Empi Radar the 7EX Buggy was a pro mo vehicle for the now defunct 7EX AM Radio Station in Launceston.
Cam is AKA Handycam from AVD and we both grew up in Trevallyn in Launceston and in the last couple of years have talked at different times about
tracking down what ever happened to the 7EX buggy.
The 7EX Buggy was an original Meyers Manx in gold metal flake gelcote with a big 7EX Emblem layed into the bonnet, but sadley last time i spoke to Cam
about it his brother Scott had heard the buggy was still about somewhere in Tassie but the famous bonnet had been destroyed in a accident.
Even though the bonnet is destroyed that manx is still down there somewhere and if still all together is a very good!!!!! original 70's spec manx.
Upon seeing your post i thought at the time it would be just our luck (me & cam ) that after looking for it for a few years that someone would come
accross it for a small sum.
Now i like a good suspension story so i will so i will let you know a little more , 7HT in Hobart which i believe still operate also have a Meyers
Manx Pro Mo Car and if they still have it is a Metalic Dark Blue.
Back to your car , sorry to say no it is not a Meyers Manx and so definently not the 7EX buggy but it is still a steal for $20 and you have got to
start somewhere in the buggy world.
Finally it is difficult to workout a buggy type from photo's when in bad condition but mabey a couple of good rear and side photos would mabey
help(post some up when ready).
Any way good luck with it and welcome to the Wide World of Buggy's.
Andrew
