Hey all, new to this forum but not VW's . Its beens a while since ive owned a type 3, ten years infact. But I was just skipping the trading post on
the net and found this notch for $2500. Before i'd seen it id already bought it. Its coming up from sydney to cairns so frieght is $1200
Now that i have some cash i'm thinking g50 + mabe ej20, h6, 2.5 diesel......
Ive owned two squarebacks years ago and I almost cant remember what their like to drive but i do remember that being the best part. Weight in the
back, light steering, a view from the cockpit that for some reason paints a diferent picture of the world, and a feeling that your being pushed not
pulled around the roads. Are yeah and that final tall gear where your cruzin effortlessly on the highway with the sound of a lazy boxer engine.
hehehe
heres some pics
looking forward to the vw maddness
Watch out its taking control ! Again

Btw when i was 19 i rebuilt a 1600 square motor in Adelaide, drove it up to cairns and buy the time i got there it was running shight. I mucked around
for months with electricals and carbies until i finally felt the heads, they were both very loose. The car still went! But ran perfect once i
tightened them up.
This car is gonna be better.
Awesome! Looking forward to the pics!

Yes, there's a 50kb size limit.
Get an account on http://www.photobucket.com and host them on there, then you have
no restrictions.
Although if they're a .jpg and 850kb they must be huge photos. Are you able to resize them? If not, email them to me at j_mclean@internode.on.net and
i'll fix them up for you.
Nice looking car - how did I miss that?! - and you're right about Type 3s. Same cool, but different feel :thumb
>Are yeah and that final tall gear where your cruzin effortlessly on the highway with the sound of a lazy boxer engine.<
A nice looking beast and should be great to drive. However, they aren't too lazy on revs compared to some of the modern guzzlers. About 3,500 RPM
at 110km/h compared with (dare I mention the words!!) around 1900 RPM for Fords and Holdens and I'm sure some of the other vehicles have similar
stories. Each time I drive a Type 3 to Nambucca it reminds me that they get quite busy in the RPM zone!
Puting an L Bug box will make them happier on the highway with the taller diff ratio.

So L-Bugs are higher geared than type 3's? Someone told me they were pretty much the same on the highway.
HeyJosie I like those wheels, kinda standard but wider. It would look wicked lowered a little I rekon. Top Notch!
nice notch good luck with it
here just for the lazy peeps
Thanks Mate

If my memory serves ok, the L Bug has a diff ratio of 3.875:1 whereas the Type 3 is 4.125:1. I had one in a 69 Notch and it cruised a bit quieter
with the slightly lower revs. Worth a try if you have time.
