You are not outclassed at all, need to get a superstylin sticker for it....

As far as I can see opaque, there is only ONE REAL car in the garage, I'm biased... but so is everyone that drives Japanese cars, tasty ride Pal! Where did you get your rubber panel trim from, if you don't mind me asking? I'm about to paint my '65 Square and would like to put fresh rubber between the panels...is it WCM stuff? Thanks for sharing those pics...oh yeah, how many splines is your Square lowered?

i bought it as is, cept ive changed the carbies back to 32s cos the 34s in em were flooding like crazy. no idea where the previous owner got em from.
again, i havent sussed out the suspension yet cos ive been focusing most my energy on the rooted engine so far, but ive measured it to be 4 cms from the ground at the front, and just over 10 cm from the pan.

koolkarmakombi - March 2nd, 2007 at 04:25 PM

What is wrong with that one mate?

whats wrong with it?

auto is fucked
engine has low comp in #4, 1 and 2 are sparking but arent working at all.

so far ive changed plugs, new fuel lines and filters, 2nd hand carbies, cleaned out the tank, new oil, new trans fluid and adjusted the tappets.

Hi, I have been looking for a automatic transmission for some time now. I been really looking at a 1987 turbo Audi 5000. But can't really see won up close in order to make the decision. So anyone out there know about a 1987-88 turbo Audi 5000 automatic trans let me know. I really need pictures, of it length. Also is the Audi 5000 auto matic trans a manual with some add ons? So come on guys let me know

better of posting in the tech section mate, but from what i assume, its a standard VW auto. not quite sure as i havent researched much into this like i said earlier, but if someone can help me out with my auto issues too it would be great!!

p.s. what kinda exterior mods u guys reckon would suit the car? be as specific as you can

heheheh your right its weird. Just change over the rest of the mechanics over with subliminal messages like vw calenders in the staff room and the occasional vw mag lying around :)

Nice ride. For an Opaque name, it's crystal clear which car I'd rather have. The Jap cars just look bland in comparison. Looks like a good pickup.

Nice ride.

The auto would be nice.

65no66busser - March 3rd, 2007 at 06:46 AM

Love that. Great colour. Leave it as is. Don't need to do a thing. 3/4" whitewalls maybe. Not a fan of lids on a type 3 but that's a nice square.

Opaque - March 3rd, 2007 at 05:42 PM

i reckon it needs a rack, probably an all chrome one.
and a chromed VW badge
3/4 whitewalls
chrome wipers
and lower!!!

baybuscamperkid - March 3rd, 2007 at 07:06 PM

i recon redo the interior, something a little more classy and clean, the outside colour is sweet, keep that it looks great, but if you want to mod the body i recon with that colour just a simple cleanup, removing the boot key/button, taking off the front badge ans smoothing, replacing the front indicators with some in-bumper ones (i think the ones from early golfs are about the right size), change the wipers back to chrome and maybe even shave the doorhandles and it would look the absolute ducks nuts! good luck with the engine n box, Ive heard thos autos are a pretty pricy rebuild, might be worth keeping an eye out for another as a backup.

Opaque - March 5th, 2007 at 09:29 AM

yeh, im really hoping the auto is just got a minor problem. big fan of shaved door handles and all, but i dont really feel it when its on a wagon, the shape doesnt really look good with a completely shaved body. in the pictures u cant really see it, but the car does have quite a bit of surface rust, and that would be the priority of any exterior work.
the interior is a little shabby, but a good steam clean i reckon it might turn out ok, just dont have enough dough to retrim it, although that would be awesome.

ruckus - March 5th, 2007 at 09:46 AM

Hey V I can't believe I finally got to you man! (well maybe Volkommen had a little more to do with that) If you need any help with mechanics etc (and who to steer clear of) in Melb let me know man.

Some nice small blinged out spotties with matching eyelids and/or bosch horns would go nicely on the front. US spec tail lights for the rear and things will look even smoother too man.

Type3Sicko - March 6th, 2007 at 07:31 AM

Opaque, if you want to upgrade your interior for low do$h...try VHT vinyl spray, take off the trim, try one small inconspicuos piece 1st and give it a clean with lightly soaped water or however you choose to clean, let it dry completely and spray the vinyl on, remember to follow instructions on can, maybe best to try on a piece of trim NOT in the car, just in case... let it cure...repeat and buff lightly with lint-free cloth or towel and a bit of Dubbin (for leather shoes). It will give you an idea of colour choice and doesn't look too shabby. if you don't like the finish or colour, then I guess save your $$ for a retrim...have fun mate. love those Fuchs :)
