well, heres _me_
_me_ - March 4th, 2007 at 02:11 AM

i moved from england to the states in 97, had a nice and lovely Arctic White 74 Euro styled superbug which i had to leave "unsold" at a garage the day before i left [ i was gutted], and had an even nicer 67 [ white too ] before that which unfortunatley had a meeting with a fence post... anyway, after 6 years in the states and 4 years in Australia, and not driving ANY car for 10 years, Jean [ john] was kind and extremely gracious enough to let me buy this off him. i think Dave Becker built it, would love to know more...

my name for her is Francessca. [ the 67 was called Fred, the 74 was called Frank ]

_me_ - March 5th, 2007 at 10:09 AM

thanks for all your nice comments...

Its a '54 on a '69 IRS pan. 1641cc Twin Kadrons, Disc Brakes front, type3 rear. Those wicked little indicator blinkers are from a Harley Davidson Electroglide but i'm going to get the pop-ups working again too.

Having just spent my first weekend with her I'm still grinning.

In the future she may get a 1914cc put in her and some new rims, but at the moment i love her just the way she is.

In keeping with your using of the letters "fr" ( francessca, fred, frank), fruck me, that`s sweet. Be nice to see it at the show on 25th May.

Like the others, very nice ride and love the photography.

Did you notice much difference to the noise level with the Dynamat in.

hey camo, cheers,

the dynamat was an ok/good, yet quite expensive addition. TBH i don't know if it was worth the cost i personally paid for it really... [ although idid get it fitted too - the actual cost of the sheets on their own was around $500 ]

it does lessen the hums and rattles of the old bug, i do notice a difference over rough road, potholes, bumps etc. and when i close the doors its definitely less vibrate-y/echo-y giving the sense of a much more solid car.

As for overall noise - it hasn't brought it down as much as say my wife was expecting [heh!] - transmission whine is down a bit but it certainlydoesn't get rid of the engine/exhaust noise [ but i was never really expecting it to... ]

i dunno i spose i'd give it a 6/10 - i know other people have put 2 and 3 layers of it in and their cars are like vaccuums, almost silent, but i certainly couldn't go to that kind of expense...

Very, very nice!!! A 54 on a 69 pan is the same as my old girl. Is the 69 pan a semi auto converted to manual or is it a swing axle rear? Love the car, very clean.
