1970 Fatty

I haven't posted shots of the bug here before - but seeing as I am now semi-proficient at Photobucket there's no excuse.

I have a 1970 1500. All orginal except adj beam. This was literally owned by an old lady in outer Eastern Melbourne who after one too many encounters with a bollard near her driveway all but gave it to my wifes Grandfather in 1973. On becoming the Mayor of Berwick a couple of years later he knocked back the offer of a mayoral Holden Statesman to drive about in the Beetle.

He is still about at 93 yrs and still driving but found the Beetle too difficult to get in and out of. So he gave it to us ... with a genuine 63K miles on it. I've done nothing but lower it slightly and service it and it starts 1st time every time. I drive it to work every day. Never fails. I'm thinking of dropping it some more and adding some Fuchs but for now it's pucker.

At the 07 Nationals
