jonathanmayes - May 7th, 2007 at 04:52 PM

Here are some pictures of the 'new' lovely '65 that I bought off another forums user - fresh off the transporter from Canberra.

Needs a wash as it is so grubby, but just wanted to take some pics of it now its home is in QLD... now the project begins!

Anyone with perfect condition '65 accessories (including complete interior) please let me know - 0420 902 784!

Thats super sweet. Exactly what I am thinking of getting.. A nice Beryl Green 60's Beetle.

Nice pick up. eBay or on here? I know it says from another forum user, but through here or eBay?

Sweet ride. All it needs is a set of whitewalls and it's finished.

Notch Nut - The white walls will come (have to find where in QLD to get port-o-walls), but there is alot of other things that have to be done - the pics dont show - but I want all the details up to spec...

Certainly is nice. Watched that one for a while. If the seller had taken the pics you've taken it wouldn't have lasted a week. Nice pics. Can I ask why you want a whole interior? Is it empty inside?
Nice buy

Hi Brad,

There is an existing interior - all complete and original and a little tired - with this being said I am looking for a complete replacement as there may be someone with a complete colour package I like to bolt in for the right price. I am only asking as I am not sure what colour to go for, weather or not to keep it true to the '65 trim spec, and or the cost of replacing all door cards and retrimming seats etc...I guess I am looking for options and alternatives as I want the interior to be 100%!

Let's have a look at it. I might be able to help.

Shit that was a great buy, you did well!

looks good Jon, a bit squat in the rear, time to narrow and slam the front, or jack the rear up an inch or so.

Be good to see and go for a cruise once its all regoed and done.

What else apart from the interior needs a clean/freshen up?

Very nice car,

If you cant find port o walls you could try painting them on. I dont know how long this would last but would be miles cheaper and from a couple of meters you probley wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Port a walls tend to not last long if you drive the car daily. mine lasted about 6-8 months before parting company with the tyre.

heres a how to link

i heard of guy in melbourne that would come to your house, cut the excess rubber away and install the white strip for you. I don't know his name or contacts and I don't think he woulc come to QLD but maybe someone does the same service in your neck of the woods

Mick - I have a fair bit planned if all goes well...

Pete is taking care of the transfer of rego (etc) and raising the rear an inch or so to get it in my name and then the fun begins.

Then priorities are:
- generally replacing all parts that are not up to scratch
- '65 spec interior to a similar standard as your '59
- narrowed beam with dropped spindles
- add '65 theme accessories

...in time time some genuine Fuch's - 4.5" on the front and deep 6" on the rear (same as in avatar).

I dont want a show car just a very tidy weekend cruiser.

[The bug has bitten and I am already looking for another dub in the meantime]

dvs_vw - May 9th, 2007 at 09:35 AM

floss....there is a guy named Jamie who does it up here, I might get him to chuck some thick reds on my 55, he did pinstripe reds on my SS ute and they looked really good!

Sounds good Jon, funny how quickly the bug bites, you can't only have 1, I'm on 2, wouldn't mind a 3rd VW, type 3 maybe....Ghia would be perfect, but we'll see.

Back end up and inch or two now...

...back to the shop soon for 2" narrowed beam and drop spindles (cant wait).

Is any one good at photoshop? I would love to see a photoshop of the dub with some 3/4 inch white walls painted on to see if I should get it done...

Jon

How is the old girl going?

have you done anything to it yet?

Andy

jonathanmayes - June 19th, 2007 at 07:45 AM

Andy,

Good to hear from you - I been spending most of my time on the dub cleaning her up further, and finding VW themed accessories to spruce her up a little.

Pics will follow in weeks to come when the roof rack arrives, sun visor fitted, spottie, red walls etc etc...

Thanks,

Jonathan
