Pardon my stupidity for asking this , but isn't the motor hood supposed to be flush with the body. or is for better cooling
it has stand-offs on for yes, cooling
easy reversable mod that requires no drilling
Ivan...:bounce
Nice pics... I thought you were selling that one.
Glad you posted these Jim, I was looking to show somebody your car about a week ago, but when I did a search I realised that you mustn't have
posted it on the new forum, until now. :thumb
So do tell ..... what are the current plans? Keep or sell?
:sandrine
Now thats nice....

Yeah, they are called "decklid stand-off's", and act sorta like a bonnet scoop, 'catching' air from the aerodynamics of the
body shape and cooling the motor more efficiently. Thats the theory anyway.
Yeah this is for sale. It will be sold minus a few of the accessories, but anyone interested can U2U me, and we'll discuss it.
Sad to see her go Jim but I guess you carn`t have to many projects.
All the fun times we had like coming back from the Bug In .:bounce
I would love to have pics of that..
The Beetle could be stripped and sold for parts for more than I am going to sell it for, that much I do know..
I know jim doesn't have this anymore but these are such great shots of this bug.....
i keep comming back to have a look.....:alien
i have it now .......... it will b coming
back with a vengence at the nats (hopefully) .........
I appreciate that.. Yeah I guess that some of the newbies don't know of everyones history as far as VW's is concerned..
This was my first car, and first VW.. I sold it recently(while, a while ago now I spose) to Adam, who is going to do a great job with it and get a
great deal of joy out of it like I did..
More pics available @ www.elisegowphotography.com . Thanks again.

I picked up the march edition of trends and saw an interesting feature on page 40
They refered to the car on the page (that was built in the states) as been inspired by the australian look eg windscrean visor, rear window blinds,
fender skirts. Is this the start of a whole new look if so Jim your car would of certainly been one of the first if not the first.
Yeah I saw that Nick.. That car was a sweet thing.. But yeah, that was a little.. I dunno.. surprising I guess, that this guy had been 'influenced'
by the 'Australian look' and the 'trends' that were/ are happening here...
I guess it was one of the first, but no doubt, there would've been people in Oz doing it like that for years.. I suppose anyway?
OZLOOK FOR EVER......
forgive my ignorance...but whats the deal with having those little vases in your car with a flower on it ...ive seen a few now?????
have you seen new beetles they have them too!!! there just a period decoration from back in the 50's era!! and know to find original ones is like
finding rocking horse poo!!!

i just noticed something - we all have 66's
me u and rhett!
Are 66's special in anyway or same as 65 - 67?
I know my cars body is a 64 but on a 66 chassis so work that out but the tail is again 66
Found that out when i got a new rubbers for Shazza and they were 66 rubbers which were too big, had to get 64's
weird huh
:sandrine
How do you know it's a 66 pan- did you check the chassis No"s?Your car looks identical to mine all over and I know mines a 64.What shape are your seats? If it was a 66 shouldn't it have a 1300 badge on the engine cover??I have a 66 one of those custom Beetles and it has all the same bits as my 64 except for the dash- correct speedo but no fuel guage-still has the reserve tap.I can't remember back that far but there were probably some other features that could help to narrow down the models.
yes Chassis is a 66
My seats are low back seats and i have a fuel gauge, never came with a 1300 badge, dont 64's have a pope nose lid (i love popes nose) my rear isnt
popes nose
All i know is my windows are a 64 dash is 66 and lid is 66
Hey u wouldnt want to sell ur mudflaps
Nice bug!
They all had low back seats but the 66 had the tops with a rolled back look. You engine cover is the same as mine. They changed to the bigger no. plate light in 64 and the wide front blinkers. What is different about your dash? Should check the build date on your speedo.Mines definately a 64 because I have the original sales invoice-delivered in Sept.64.
yeah ill check my speedo but my chassis is definately a 66
Did 64's come with fuel gauge?
:beer
Yes-I "think" they appeared half way thru 62
yeh adam send me some pics and some details and ill get it up on the site very soon
costa ill hav a early 60s engine lid 4 sale soon in perfect condition, or did u want to be "period correct"?
