Fritz the 66 Beetle has joined the family.
Always on the look out for VW's I spied Fritz in a backyard with 2 other Beetles and a Fastback. Being the bold fellow I am I rocked up to the door
and asked the lady who answered if anyone still loved the VW's in the backyard. My eye was specifically on a Beetle this time. The response from the
lovely lady was "Yes well someone did once - they were my husbands - he died in November." Feeling a right git and a wee bit awkward I apologised
and said sorry for my insensitivity. Helen the lovely lady said ever so politely not to worry as 'they had to be sold' as they were still part of
her husbands estate and she had tried to sell them at an auction house but none of them had sold.
One of the Beetles a '62 was already on hold for another fellow. He came and collected it the other day - unreg and not running but he managed to get
it to go.
The other Beetle is also a '62 Helen and her husband bought it new in Qld and drove it to Tas when they moved here. She has plans to have it restored
for her niece's first car.
Fritz our new addition is a 66 he was her husband's daily driver. Mechanically well looked after his body was looking a little tired. He runs well,
no structural rust and generally complete. Pics below.
The Fastback is a 72 currently registered but not running, is a manual TLE.
Fritz is great and it is an honour to own him after knowing how much he meant to both Helen and her late husband.
Nice and a nice history......priceless
hey that's a cool story, I hope the neice appreciates her first car and you look after yours! :thumb
