Picked this Ghia up on the weekend, too good a buy to pass up and this will probably take 1st place over the oval for my project car. Its a 2 owner
and has been parked under a house for 29 years, and the last rego sticker reads 5/1978. Its done 53k miles, and is very, very solid, very very
straight, complete and in damn good nick...apart from some rust in the base of the nose where the washer bottle spilt and was left to rot a hole. Its
originally a black exterior/red interior ghia as you can tell by the dash/doors, but was painted factory pacific blue/white in '68 when the guy I
bought it off had owned it for a year and was sick of maintaining black and was sick of the heat! Has a factory radio and the interior is mint, but
dirty, doors are schmick and roof lining is unmarked etc, original motor, all factory sekurit glass and came with some mint condition booklets,
pamphlets, radio instructions and service history logs.
Anyway, enough chat, pics below!
PS: thanks Nick for the loan of the rims/tyres, massive help!:thumb

Nice find, are you going to be putting back to black/red
Great find. How did you manage to hear about this one?
Looks very neat and tidy. Small amount of rust sounds like a bonus too!
Frank, nah, after having the black jeep, I can't think of a worse colour for maintaining in the current conditions of non-washing restrictions!
It'll be a Ghia correct, 2 tone combo...maybe single tone though, but I have the colour/s in mind!
Although I'd imagine factory black/red ghia's to be a bit of a rarity, so it might pay to do it, but I know I'd regret it.
Only other rust apart from the base of the nose is a few bubbles along the bottom of the doors, and around the drivers side headlight.

Great find Michael. Geez the fleet is growing at a rapid rate. Congrats...be great to go back to black, but I can imagine what a summer in a black VW
would be like up there.
Go Nudgee.
NICE one Michael...!
Tell us the story - where did you find this one?
From what you've said I thought you were having enough trouble fitting the '59 and the oval in the garage?
VERY GOOD!!!
Saw this on carsales guys, great pics great buy.
Congrates on the great find. Looking forward to seeing progress pics.

Good on you - always nice to see a satisfied owner!
Well done
All you need is rego tune up, drop it on it's guts and your ready to roll.
Sweet find.
Beautiful car. As I said, I would have loved to buy that Ghia myself.
Congratulations, you now have a dream garage, what else could you wish for.
Oval, Ghia and 59.......you are one lucky fella, well done dude!
You could buy this
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/VOLKSWAGEN/KARMANN_GHIA/details....
and you would have a matching pair!!
matching pair, but that ones a hell of a lot more....a polish, a vacuum and a bit of weekend cleaning, plus a battery and a tune and mine would be the
same for under $10k, maybe not quite a schmick or concourse though.
