its been a while but we have finally started work on the beetle so i thought i would post up some pics and show ya what has been happening.
its a 67 1500
anyway here are the pics for ya
as she started out as
some more
pulling off the guards
oh no dredded cancer, acctually the hole was caused when trying to undo the guard bolt and the body just pulled out
bit more demolition oops i mean progress
a dummy up to make sure the doors and guards will fit
we plan to look all over for rust and fix what we can before sending to the panel beaters and getting repainted.
unsure whether we have to pull it off the pan, want to avoid it if possible, we would like to try find 2 donor pillars if possible, pretty hard up
here in alice and to find one not rusted out but hopeful.
Hey Danielle,
Good to see your work on the beetle.
What's on the plans for her?
Richard
oops forgot to show the bend/crack in the rear
hey Richard, plans are to get her stripped back as she has a few layers of paint and some of it badly cracking over lots of bog, a real nice paint
job, change of colour, not telling yet.
wide guards and one piece windows, not to much really but enough to make it look like a sweet lil ride, and hopefully with the climate here once we
get rid of the rust hopefully it wont come back
so how is your beetle going btw, get the bonnett fixed/replaced, havent see ya around for a while either
Try Classic Veedub in sydney or Mick Motors in Brisbane for new replacement pilla sections. They really aren't real exspensive at all
jace
cheers for the heads up Jace will look them up and give them a buzz, that helps heaps
Danielle
one thign Danielle didnt really mention, the crack and bend in the left rear inner guar, that isnt supposed to be bent is it?? probably from having
the rearend pushed forward a bit??
there is also a little distortion in the front of the body where the spare wheel should slide in, we have a 165x15 tyre on a standard rim, and it wont
even go in the stock spare wheel hole.
Danielle also didnt mention, I think there is a tonne of bog hiding all sorts of body issues in this car. once its all repaired properly, it shuld
weigh a little less and go a little better.
