Some info in the Type 3 section but all will now be in this thread.
Engine assembly photos up on that link.
As it sits in the garage awaiting the tuners.

OVW 371 - 3 month 71 Fastback.(that HP would be nice)
Porsche fan and spun billet centre cap for some bling.

bit of Geer's engineering goodness.
Car is now awaiting to go to the tuners on the 18th May for the install of the ignition system and ECU. Then a low boost tune will be added and Troy
will put some miles onit before it goes back to get full boost tune applied(@20psi)
Hope these pics satisfy all those who keep asking for them!! The end is in sight.....
that's cool. hope you get what your aiming for dyno wise.
looks like you got some good gear in there.
looks great/.
Great work, and thats one tightly packed engine bay! I'll bet a lot of hours went into planning, installing, changing your mind and re-installing all the components to make it all fit and work. Its not intercooled right, or did i miss something?
yeah it is intercooled. It sits where the bellows would normally be. We recessed the intercooler into the bellows area and put a 10" Davies Craig thermo fan on the back side of it to suck air through. It gets the normal flow from the vents on the side of the car and the fan will pull air through as well. Garrett core 400 x 250 x 5" thick! Pipes from intercooler to throttle body and turbo are pretty short as well.
Nice one Brendenn - now you and Troy have to promise no more changes to the engine until you at least get it on the road/strip this time!!
Al
Pretty much think it is going to be as reliable as we can get it with this sort of set up. Engine wise we used the best stuff we could get as far as
strength is concerned and also from a weight point of view.
If only we could hold the same views of the gearbox but I guess time will tell. I have a 2.0 bus box sitting here should the inevitable happen. It
will make a quick trip to dangerous' place for a holiday and make over(and definately no pink paint!)
doing the plugs on that would be interesting ...
That's soooo nice mate!!
Love your work...
platinum plugs so they only have to be changed every so often. It's actually easier to jack the car up and do them from underneath!! 2 person job also makes it fairly easy too.
Very nice setup, what does the blue tap handle drain?
T54
Inline tap from bottom of dry sump tank to oil pump. Car is not intended to be daily driver so tap gets turned off when not in use so tank doesn't try to drain back into sump. Plus 8 odd litres of oil in the sump might be a bit over full LOL.
Any updates to report Brennden and Troy?
very nice setup, will scare some other road users
Yeah Dave dyno date has been pushed back to the 2nd June. We drop it down there on the monday and hopefully by the following week Troy will pick it up
and drive it home(he is starting to get excited about actually driving it)
If all goes well we should have some k's on it by the dyno day and full boost set on it for a run on the rollers.
Dam nice Job & excellent attention to detail, full credit & well done ,,, i won`t be trying to outrun you if i see you on the road :-)
Awesome work well planned out, just don't forget the second bolt in the rear hanger bar to the body mount.
Damo.
awesome job
Not long to dyno time now hey Brennden!
Couple of questions - you guys are running Autronic ECU right? What ECU if so? I'm trying to do some research at the moment.
Also where abouts are you going to do the dyno tuning? (can pm me if you prefer).
Cheers
Al
Autronic SM2/3. That's about all I can tell you as far as the model is concerned. Whether it is a 2 or a 3 dunno as i didn't buy it LOL
Yep Monday is the day so fingers crossed.
C and J Motorsport are doing the install and tune. They are Autronic dealers and do all my unlce's Formula Vee dynoing and have a quiet appreciation
for Volksy's even though they'd never admit it.
Let's say when my cousin got his 2.5L Type 4 dynoed in his dual cab they took it for a run up the street and the thing went sideways when he hit 2nd
gear on the bend in the street and his pants had remnants of his brekky and lunch all over the crutch...
Car is on the trailer ready to go to the dyno tomorrow. A day Troy thought would never come anytime soon is now going to happen!!!
Big thanks to Dak A Tak for helping getting the car to the dyno.
Good luck with the big day guys.
Hope all goes well, cant wait to hear some results.........all in good time I'm sure...
well so far it has sat outside in the rain all day. not happy Jan......
what's the news
????
Well we have waited for nearly a month casue they have been busy so today was the day they wanted the car there to start on it. We dropped it off at
9am this morning and asked if possible to put it in the workshop and not leave it out in the pouring rain we have had all day. I drove past at 3.45pm
and it hasn't moved an inch. They were also supposed to have a distributor modified and ready to go for the EFI but they forgot to do it.
Let's hope this part of the puzzle doesn't take forever...... we gotto put some k's on it before the dyno day and Valla!! Then we can have full
boosty fun.....
will keep you posted of all goings on!!
