T3 had an update....by a truck !!!!!!!!
matttyler - August 28th, 2007 at 06:09 PM

Just a few shots of our new addition. I picked her up from the forum (Thanks Paul ) and after a bit of work from the Debiasi`s and myself the new ride passed inspection and got her plates today !!! Have to laugh at those inspector dudes. They look like members of a swat team !!! Souldn`t complain however all they did was check the numbers and that was it, although the original plates that were still with it came up as a 92 Lancer that is registered in vic as the car was last regoed in SA back in 1980.

All said I am pretty happy with the outcome most importantly it gets the tick of approval from Anthea and the two girls who will be using it as their daily.

Cheers
Matt

retroresto67 - August 29th, 2007 at 03:58 PM

Matt, Thats a great looking car, bet the guy who built that knows how to build a coooool Type III :P

Good to see you got it finished and on the road, alway knew it would look great dumped on whitewalls, bring it around and let me sample some of my hard work!

Paul

matttyler - August 29th, 2007 at 06:14 PM

Mate the guy who built it had no idea !!!!! If he did why would he sell it ????? Then again the bloke has a habit of doing that.

Would love to come around and share a couple of coldies. The neighbours around here are starting to think I am some sort of phsyco standing in the front yard gazing at it !!!!!

Thanks again
Matt

Turbo54 - September 12th, 2007 at 02:43 PM

Sorry to see that mate,
She was really nice, pity. I was hoping to get a shot with yours and mine together sometime.
Can it be fixed?
T54

matttyler - September 12th, 2007 at 03:08 PM

It will be fixed.......I want it exactly how it was regardless of the cost quite frankly. I must say the guys at Shannons are fantasic.

So the photo will still be an option.

Cheers
Matt

barls - September 12th, 2007 at 03:14 PM

that sucks mate but at least you with shannons. the last time i got sideswiped his insurance company tried to tell me who was doing the repair and all i had to say was my policy with shannons entitles me to my choice of repairer not yours. it ended up costing twice what they wanted to pay but it got fixed right not a bog and respray like what they wanted. now you only have to find the right person to do the repairs

boristherat - September 12th, 2007 at 06:05 PM

My heart goes out to you!:cry
Good luck with the repairs.

Turbo54 - September 12th, 2007 at 06:07 PM

Go and see the guys in the crash shop across the road from Charlies Diner at Brighton next door the the BP. My friend is a paint rep and I asked him and he reckons they are the best. Good guys and do the job properly. If you have somewhere else in mind let me know and I will ask him. He gets to go into all the shops and knows the good from the bad.

U2U me about replacement panels

Good Luck
;) T54

Twokombies - September 12th, 2007 at 06:15 PM

Are you sure it won't polish out with a good brand of cutters?

kombimatt - September 12th, 2007 at 06:50 PM

Sad to see. Hope all involved were not hurt.

Hope to see it on the road again soon!

Desert Bug - September 12th, 2007 at 11:04 PM

G'day Matt,
I couldn't believe it when Anthea rang today, but at least no one was hurt. Emotionally maybe!!! Hope the rest of the week gets better.
Cheers, Ian.

matttyler - September 13th, 2007 at 12:31 AM

Thanks for the support guys.

Everyone is fine no busted bones. However I am shattered !!!! We have only had her for two weeks. The irony is that the last thing that was ticking me off was the accuracy of the fuel gauge. I was actually on my why to Cartech (VeeDub Center) to swap the sender over as it is just down the road from us.

I was travelling down Cross Roads (Which is four lanes, two in each direction) When I had to come to a stop as traffic had stopped in my lane. There was a FWD in front of me so I had no idea why we had stopped. When there was a gap in the traffic the FWD indicated and pulled into the next lane.

It was THEN I could see why we had to stop. There was a truck sitting stationary in our lane. I looked over my right shoulder to see if I could pull past it but cars were coming and I had another behind me.

I then turned back around and THEN to my horror the bloody truck was reversing !!!!! I had nowhere to go. I just had to sit there with my hand on the horn and watch the bloody thing park on the bonnet !!!

The driver of the truck jumped out (fairly young) and said how sorry he was and thrust his licence at me. This was the best thing he could have done I was so furious I was unable to speak !!!! I took his licence and walked down the side street to calm down. I then returned and we shared details.

I understand accidents happen. We all have them at some stage or another so I bear not hostility to the guy in the truck. However the real test from this point on will be the test of human character when it comes to paying the bill. As it was a company truck (spoke to the boss) I am hoping they do the right thing he assured me they will. I firmly believe in giving people that opportunity before unleashing so to speak.

I really hope I am not let down and my faith in character dented. Though I must say that despite the cars behind and around me NO-ONE stopped to help or even offer to be a witness so I am a little concerned and at the same time ready to deal with whatever comes.

I will keep you all posted.

Cheers
Matt

hope you are ok.. the car can be fixed or anothery sort as long as all peeps in the car are well and ok is what really matters..

retroresto67 - September 13th, 2007 at 04:49 PM

Mate, that's a nasty scratch !!

Thats why you cant have anything nice ! you just go wreck it, you'll need more than cut and polish to get that sucker out.

I'll put a bunch of spare panels away for you.

Cheers

Paul......:thumb
