The old new van

Hi all

Just thought I would post a couple of pics of my original unwelded 70 dlx, had it for a couple of years now, so it needed a bit of attention.
Took longer than expected, but could only work on weekends as I work in Canberra, all in all didn't turn out too bad.

Replaced all brakes and cyl's, all wheel bearings and seals, handbrake, clutch and throttle cables. Put on Wagenswest lowering stuff front and rear. Replaced all the window seals even the front scrapers, got rid of the rear 1/4's and added fronts along with sliders, windows tinted while they were out and the front 1/4's (pain to get back in) Fitted front and rear tmi covers and it went from this

Cheers
Luckily it turned exactly how we wanted, which is rare. Still a couple of things to sort, like straighting the bumpers, I think the last owner used to park by sound.

flipflopsurfer - December 18th, 2007 at 07:16 PM

According to the paint codes it's savannah beige and antarctic white, aka poo brown and grubby grey when unwashed for a while

love it, looks really good now....Lowlight bays are pretty cool.

Dark enough tint?

flipflopsurfer - December 19th, 2007 at 12:05 PM

This lowlight is winning a place in the garage, but with 2 splitties and a ghia, amongst other cars, it's pretty difficult for it not to become neglected. This is my daily when I'm at home, so it does earn it's keep.
I reckon the tint is just about right, it's lighter on the front windows for driving at night which works well as I leave home at 3 on a monday morning to fly to work.

It was a bit of a pain to finish as we did all the work ourselves, but worth it in the end even though a few tough times and suppliers sending us the wrong bits on about 6 occasions started to get to us.
