Hi everyone, thought i'd figure out how to be an "active" member on the forum by trying to upload a few details about "NORAH". NORAh hails from
the tweed coast and loves trips along the coast as much as having a go at the drags (well... only once at warwick this year, but hey, I was the only
aircooled bus having a crack).
She had a 6 month hiatus in the back shed after my younger brother used her as a work van for 10 years as well as a spare bedroom.
The bus has been dropped 4 inches, (Indian adjustable beam and resplined in rear (thanks Alan at Stokers garage). Has a quick shift and a twin-plugged
pobjoy base 2.0L type IV in the back. New interior, paint, seats etc.
The motor has been a great investment (Thanks Stan). Perfect combination of power yet quite drivable as an daily driver. Good torque. Motor has some
go better adjustments; Tighe pobjoy spec cam, twin Kadrons, twin-plugged goodness, balanced, new heads, extractors into straight through exhaust etc.
Top speed of 148kmhr under low wind conditions, 12.7 1/8mile@57 mile/hr. Love chirping second in a kombi!
Hope I manage to upload pics (seemed to have had to do alot of resizing to fit?!!?) ... computers more complicated than kombi's! The orange beast in
the shed a well used factory item! Bye
sounds like a great bus
looking farward to seeing the pics, and welcome aboard
there they are, yep nice bus!
think i have seen you on the road. i have a grey 72 bus with porsche wheels rack and black carbra.
Yes I fairly sure I've waved to a bloke with a Kombi that sounds like yours. The carbra i think is the giveaway.
I'll throw up some Warwick piccs. Hopefully 08 any kombi record attempts aren't on the same weekend as warwick drags.
a bit more momentum provided after a change in engine bay. Old and new donk pics
What gearbox are you running? My 76 bus with modded type 4 2.0L managed a top speed of just over 200km/hr on a down hill run with an Escort pushing
some wind for me. He pulled over and I accelerated past him which he couldn't believe. Poor old donk was revving it's head off with only 250rpm
before redline in top!!
Man I was hard on the old girl when I was younger...
Sweet looking bus man. Just add some sweet rims and it'll be perfect.
Running an untouched 1975 2L box (5 rib). Don't know any other info. With 14 inch rims and slightly lower profile tyres its revving at about 5,400rpm
at last stroke on the speedo. Certainly doesn't go any faster unless downhill with a tailwind.
And yes rims are needed, as is more cash to purchase them!
