VWRX at another car show...
reub - June 14th, 2008 at 05:39 PM

A few pics from today at the Shannons car show in Darwin which is a 2 day event.

Horrible pics by my average camera...yes, the interior is red...probably washed out by the intense spotlighting. Will post more when a mate takes some for me tomorrow.

Awesome dude! No wonder the car took out 7 trophies last time, and your effort with presentation makes all the diference. Look at some of the cars in the background... no effort made at all. Car parked and thats it!

bajachris88 - June 14th, 2008 at 09:52 PM

yea man, looks like u didn't have much to complete with haha

That last photos a sure poster shot buddy, lovely indeed
:tu:

squizy - June 14th, 2008 at 10:49 PM

Reub I hope that bog standard ride height Charade in the background of the first photo doesn't beat you.

reub - June 14th, 2008 at 11:50 PM

:) cheers guys...

Apparently there are around 800 cars/bikes on display this year, which includes new car dealerships.

vwkg - June 15th, 2008 at 02:54 PM

Display looked tops dude, very well done. That little bit of extra effort you put in really makes it stand out.

And only about 2 other dubs at the whole show.
One was part of the local Volkswagen dealership display, one done up as a mud racer, other than those two... I can't think of another.

haha mine was out in the car park:D

the VWRX better win peoples choice Reub:tu:

Tasty work man!

Where did you get your CF W decklid? I am looking around - have found a few places, but am keen to get a better idea of the quality of some of the work.

Cheers.

It has to be said that this sort of attitude is exactly what pisses me off about car forums!
You think you are being clever - but you guys will have all done something that someone else has done anyway.

Mate I'm going to get one anyway - so that buggers your exclusivity.

:grind:

reub - June 17th, 2008 at 05:54 PM

No need for hostility dude...was only a light hearted comment made by Dumone...

I got mine from VW parts. They aren't being made any more but you could get in touch with JVL Racing on the forum as he has the moulds.
One reason they weren't continually made I'm guessing was lack of sales...

Anywaysm good luck getting one:tu:

VWFREAK - June 17th, 2008 at 05:56 PM

Great stuff as always Reub. I miss that show it's a great day.

Apologies to you Reub - and I do not like to bring down the town of a thread.
Although my status labels me a newbie - I have been into the Dub scene for a quite a while now, and I have to say I have seen/met/come across more people with crap attitude than should be. Those that go to a show, only to then bag out another persons ride for instance. I have seen plenty of cars that I admit are not to my taste, but the point is they make the effort to join in.
In my time I have also come across a few that seem to delight in having "exclusive" rights. But lets face it - if it is a popular mod, everyone will find a way to do it as well.

Anyway - keep it up Reubs, that is a great looking car you have built. Thanks for the contact on the mould - I'll see what happens.

Cheers.

GFXerDave - August 18th, 2008 at 10:30 PM

You have definitely put a lot of work into that car and it shows 10 fold. Very nice ride my man!

bugluv - August 23rd, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Looks fantastic, the effort you put in is amazing :tu:

reub-revhead
This has to be one of the wildest bugs i have ever seen. The quality of work gone into this is fantastic.
Has to be one of the best chop tops around in any country:tu:

vassy66T1 - February 8th, 2009 at 07:06 AM

I'm an old school guy at heart ... but your custom package just about gives me wood !!
Excellent car Reub and the presentation looks spectacular.

reub - February 8th, 2009 at 09:30 AM

Cheers guys:tu: Getting a response prompted me to update the original photos with some I asked a friend to take. They give much better indication of real red over the orange that my dodgy digital camera took...

kroozzn63 - February 8th, 2009 at 09:37 AM

always sweet

paladin - February 8th, 2009 at 12:02 PM

Hey mate. I've visited this thread a number of times to look at your ride. Just gorgeous. I just wanted to throw that it because you mentioned you were enjoying the comments and I didn't take the time to make one before. I just love the red interior. This is a seriously bold statement.

If I might ask - what is the set up there you have with your headlights? I really like the look of those surrounds with what I'm guessing is a sealed beam lamp? Where did you get them?

Joel - February 8th, 2009 at 05:03 PM

hard to beleive its that same ratty black bug with the patched over sunroof from valla all those years ago

a credit to all the hard work u have put into it

reub - February 8th, 2009 at 05:24 PM

It is an interesting comparision looking back at the car before I purchased it from Laurie...

These photos were taken by a mate who was on holiday in Brissie on the 3rd September 2002 when Laurie offered the car to me. To be really honest I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I bought it... the build certainly was more then a bit of grinding, a bit of filler, paint and an interior that is for sure!

She was not pretty picture when you bought it. These pics were what i saw the last time I saw it before you bought it mate. Lotsa hard work that people will now see with these pics compared to what she looks like now.
