This is now my 67 split panel which was almost lost to the scrap metal yard.
Monday morning the day after valla weekend at 9 i get a call all i hear is a mate saying do u want a split kombi cause if you do you better go look at
it now or is going to be scrapped. He give me a number of another mate who in turn gives me the number of the scrap guy. It seem my mates mate saw it
heading down the road from his work ran out of the building and waved the truck down telling him you can't scrap that and to take it home he will get
some one to buy it(luckly the scrap guy happend to be his mate and through better judgement turned truck around) kombi was droped it back in his yard
at 10 i looked at it and by 11 it was on my trailer saved from the crushers.
Its got the usual rust in it but it appears to be solid still rolls has engine and box etc. I figure its gonna take a bit of work but i couldn't let
it got to the scrap yard to be squashed. After talking to the scrappy he also informed me that he took a single cab split ute to the scrappers a week
prior to this one (I already took a drive to see if it were still there but most of the cars get crushed straight away and there was a pile of car
pancakes there).
heres a pick of it.
that is fantastic, thank goodness for mates & mates of mates of mates
Geez Marty - I don't know who's the luckier sod - you or the splitty !!!
Well done.
btw I hope you've left your number with the scrappy for any other split's that he happens to get... (and I wouldn't mind either a single or twin
cab)
Nice lichen there. Awesome potential there.
Lucky bastard and I'm not talking about the splitty. Well done, but are you sure you really need another VW ????
nice save !..I once saved a 72 lowlight from the same fate
Nice work Marty, just a little side project for u!
