vwsteve - February 9th, 2009 at 07:03 AM

This is a kombi ive slowly been working on for a while now,its a 74 ex panelvan(originally red) plan is to raise front up a bit more, have raised the rear already, has a new 1600 unleaded engine i put in as the old one was pretty avg,new cvs, good box, merc rims and off road tyres, redone the camper int, been working on a spare wheel carrier for the back, picked up an original drive away annex, modified the exhaust to sit a little higher etc getting it up to scratch so i can jump in and go travelling
i am chasing some deluxe strips for the drivers side or another complete set and a sunvisor if anyone has one

You running 215/75/15 all round?? Good choice of tyre BTW:tu:

vwsteve - February 10th, 2009 at 06:40 AM

the front tyres are a little narrower than the rear, from memory 215 front and 235 rear maybe, cant remember, bought the wheels from the trading post a while ago

pete wood - February 10th, 2009 at 09:16 AM

looks tough...for camper :D

but seriously, ought to be fun.

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - February 10th, 2009 at 10:24 AM

My uncle did a lift kit under a camper not before he stopped doing alltogether. 12R rear and 235/75 front. Man it did look tough!!

vwsteve - February 10th, 2009 at 10:43 AM

i think mine are big enough for now, its only a 1600 so dont want anything to big and i dont want to cut the arches either, front hits a little on full lock sometimes but once i raise it that should fix the problem, i took the bullbar off as it weighed it down a bit too

vwsteve - July 10th, 2009 at 11:45 AM

Had some recent maternity leave so i managed to get some work done, welded beetle style adjusters into the front beam, modified them a little more for strength, i got a little extra height out of them but i wouldnt say a lot and done more on the spare wheel hanger.

vwsteve - July 10th, 2009 at 11:47 AM

Made the gas door out of left over checkerplate, what do you think?

vwsteve - July 10th, 2009 at 11:48 AM

nice seat setup ;)

vwsteve - July 20th, 2009 at 08:18 AM

Yeah it should make driving a whole new experience, sitting on metal frames gets quite uncomfortable afer a long trip:lol:

vwsteve - August 26th, 2009 at 12:00 PM

Well it turns out the adjusters i put in were succesfull with getting the height i wanted, i just bought longer adjusting bolts and got an extra 1 1/2 inches compared to before, i would say i got an extra 2-3 inches out of it all up, tyres do not rub anymore and the car now sits level, it does feel like it wants to roll going around tight bends though:crazy:

vwsteve - August 26th, 2009 at 12:06 PM

took the kombi camping at yarramalong last weekend

greedy53 - August 26th, 2009 at 05:13 PM

vwsteve - August 27th, 2009 at 06:13 AM
